Does wheat-grass contain gluten?

Answer:

Does wheatgrass contain gluten?

No wheatgrass is a suitable food type for those with a gluten intolerance. Although wheat grain contains gluten, wheatgrass is not a grain, it is a green vegetable and as such contains no gluten.

Does that answer make sense to you? Grass is a vegetable?

But if you have severe allergies to wheat, I'd recommend staying away. All parts of wheat are toxic to people genuinely allergic to the wheat grain.

Birdy, I just started growing my own wheatgrass. It's not even ready to harvest yet. I bought The Wheatgrass Book by Ann Wigmore. I got it on Amazon. It's full of great information that would help you. It explains so much including how to do a wheatgrass fast (3 days) which I want to do sometime. On the website happyjuicer.com it says it's a vegetable and OK for gluten sensitive people.
Good luck!

Joan
