Raw and Breastfeeding--The Best Diet for me
Posted by: jivana_vegan ()

I am a long time vegan who just had a baby. I was raw before my pregnancy but couldn't stick to it during. Now that my beautiful baby boy is here I am going back to raw. I breastfeed and I want to make sure I am getting all of the proper nutrients, vitamins, etc for my baby. What should I be eating?
Thanks for your feedback!
Peace

i found that mostly fruits
with dates
spinach
olive and coconut oils
and then more fruits
and the occasional dehydrated bread/cracker
or nut butter
really kept me going well.

i do confess to occasional (once a week) cooked potatoes, and a few non-vegan items.

but my milk production did great on the fruit.
juiced or whole
frozen (and sorbeted) or fresh
but i needed a TON of calories.
seriously, 3,000 a day would probably be close, though i never measured.
and that's with minimal exercise (walking a couple miles a day, and playing w/baby)

peace-

I've only been doing the raw thing about 6 weeks, but my milk supply was excellent with fruits, dates, nuts and coconut, flax seeds, and a huge salad with a full head of romaine every day. I'm eating a higher percentage of fats right now than usual and I don't think I'm as "full" as I was when eating mostly fruits.

My baby is 8 months old and doesn't eat solids so I'm having to make a ton of milk. I haven't noticed a real drop in supply at any point. It's really hot in Oklahoma now, so my main concern is me getting enough water to make up for all I'm sweating out.
