Where do you get safe water bottles?
Date: June 21, 2007 02:31PM

I recently read that:

#2 high-density polyethylene (HDPE)
#4 low-density polyethlene (LDPE)
#5 polystyrene (PS)

These are the only safest plastics!

Where in the world can I purchase these?

This book "The Purification plan" by Peter Bennett, N.D.said,
"Many plastics leach the hormone-disrupting chemicals phthalates and Bisphenol-A, which in turn migrate into food that comes into contact with it. Plastic especially migrates into hot, fatty foods, such as packaged cheese that has been left in the sun. INgesting these chemicals can cause disruption of the hormonal systems of your body and affect the thyroid and reproductive system"

I don't use plastic water bottles. I use SIGG bottles, which are metal and have no interaction or leaching. In fact, I can leave water in the bottle in the car for weeks and still drink it with no alteration of taste whatever. Google SIGG to find the best price. [www.sigg.ch]

We use these:

I wouldn't recommend buying plastic - not good for the environment anyways.

hmm..the only safest?

either they are the only...or they are the safest options

I would say bottled water is the last thing you need to worry about unless you want to and are in a position to do something about it. The above suggestions are good, but wouldn't work for me.

the best thing to do is get most of your water from fruits and veggies. pretty much anything left in the sun too long turns to crap smiling smiley

greenie, I looked up SIGG. They're made from aluminum. Aluminum leaches nickel.

I don't remember the exact Mfg. or name, but any good health food store carries a totally safe plastic bottle. They come in all sizes. I have also seen the same ones at Wild Oats. They even make a nice size for young children. Also, very large sizes to store in the ref. Hope this helps.

They're made from aluminum on the outside but coated wtih some non-reactive material inside. I'm unbelievably sensitive to this stuff and can taste metal from Kleen Canteen and plastic from the Nalgene bottles, but cannot taste anything with the SIGG bottles.

Use recycled glass bottles! They work great and are natural, and dont leach.. Downside, can be breakable..

When I travel, I pack a case of Mtn Valley water in glass bottles in the trunk of the car. Then when I fly in from someplace, I don't have to scramble to get bottled water, it's waiting for me.

Been doing that for years with no problem and just this time had two of them break on me, even though they were well-padded. What a mess. They were the tall bottles and I think the glass is thinner on those. These were in the rental car in AZ where it was real hot. I'm not sure they actually broke from getting jostled rather than exploded from the heat. The shorter MV glass bottles in my car at home were fine when I landed last night.
