Date: July 21, 2007 03:12PM When they are soft...like a peach or nectarine, they are ripe. You can just bite into them or you can peel them. Re: mangosteen

Date: July 21, 2007 04:55PM AFAIK you must peel a mangosteen. The skin is brown and thick and I don't believe it is edible. Re: mangosteen

Date: July 22, 2007 10:47AM Yeah, boy, don't eat the rind! I'm curious if you did! Did you eat the outer rind? Thais say mangosteens go well with durian. They say that durians are heating and that mangosteens are cooling and that the two together balance well. I never felt hot by eating durians. Never cool by eating mangosteens. Just loved the tastes of both. This way is not compatible with Zen practice. This way IS Zen practice. - Dr. Doug Graham Nothing whatsoever should be attached to. - Buddha Re: mangosteen

Date: July 22, 2007 01:18PM The tibetians use to boil water and place it in the mangosteen rine, after the fruit had been devoured, yummm , then they would place a minimal amount of salt in the water and let it dislove. the sodium would extract the xanthone nutrients from the rine and they would drink, super nutrtious! Although I dont recommend, for I dont use salt and dont boil water.
Also the rine is perfectly edible, when I get my hands on mangosteens, I eat the fruit and then I will dry the rine and process it into a powder for my smoothies( goes great with grapes) > Myspace: [www.myspace.com] > Blog: [chefdemocha.blogspot.com] Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
