Most people who have explored the wondrously wide avenues of self-healing have heard about wheatgrass. Wheatgrass juice has been proven over many years to benefit people in numerous ways: cleansing the lymph system, building the blood, restoring balance in the body, removing toxic metals from the cells, nourishing the liver and kidneys and restoring vitality. One ounce of wheatgrass juice has the vitamin and mineral equivalent of 2.2 pounds of fresh vegetables. It contains most of the vitamins and minerals needed for human maintenance, including the elusive B12. Many of the benefits of wheatgrass juice stem from the fact that it is a living food, which is a complete protein with about 30 enzymes and is approximately 70% crude chlorophyll. To detoxify my blood and to maintain my excellent health and vitality I drink daily 6 to 8 ounces of freshly pressed mixture of wheatgrass, parsley, cilantro, dandelion..... Wheatgrass played a major role in my health recovery of severe lifelong illnesses. What type of Vegetables Do I Juice? I would recommend starting with the three ones that are easiest to tolerate: # Celery # Fennel (anise) # Cucumbers Unfortunately these are not that beneficial as the more intense dark green vegetables. Once you get used to these though you can start adding the better, but less palatable ones in. Green LEAFY vegetables are probably the best to juice. All green leafy vegetables work well. The easiest ones to include include all the lettuces including, but not restricted to: # Red leaf # Green Leaf # Romaine # Endive # Escarole # Spinach You can then put in some of the other similar green leafy vegetables such as # Cabbage # Chinese Cabbage # Bok Choy Cabbage juice is one of the most healing nutrients for ulcer repair (I don’t have one) as it is a huge source of vitamin U. Unfortunately, Eat Right for Your Type approach does not support lectin compatibility for blood type A individuals like myself. So I avoid it. I like to put in one to two cloves of garlic in my juice. It provides the incredible healing potential of fresh garlic. I would strongly advise you to regularly do this to balance out your bowel flora. The ideal dose is just below the social threshold where people start to notice that you have eaten garlic. One large clove, two medium cloves or three small cloves should not cause you to smell of garlic. All natural whole food ingredients including nuts, seeds, grains, fruits, vegetables, berries, herbs, oils, & spices. Food is the single most important factor in achieving and maintaing good health. When it comes to good nutrition the key, as in all natural living, is simplicity. "Living foods, such as fruits and vegetables, eaten in their natural state, raw, or only slightly cooked, is best to get all the nutrients they have to offer. By cooking our foods, vegetables and fruits, we loose 85% of the nutrients they provide. All enzymes are killed and amino acids are either destroyed or changed into indegestible components. more about raw nutrition A primarily plant-based diet emphasizes vegetables, fruits, whole grains and beans. Foods from animal sources, including meat, fish, poultry, eggs and dairy products do not play a major role. This means that most of each meal should be made up of plant foods, including: • vegetables and fruits • grains, especially whole grains (like whole wheat bread and pasta, brown rice and whole-grain cereal) • legumes (such as beans, peas and lentils) Foods to include While all vegetables and fruits are healthy choices, try to include those that are nutrient-dense and offer the most cancer-protective compounds to your diet, such as the following: • Dark green leafy and deep orange veggies pack the highest nutrition punch. Try collard greens, spinach, kale and Swiss chard, along with red peppers, pumpkin, carrots, broccoli and okra. • Melons and citrus fruits get high marks for nutri- tion. Try papaya, canta- loupe, strawberries, oranges, tangerines, kiwi, mango, apricots and watermelon. • Although juice can count toward your “five or more” a day, experts recommend that most of your vegetable and fruit servings come from whole foods. In addition to fruits and vegetables, AICR recommends eating more than seven servings of “other” plant foods a day. Other plant foods are defined as starchy or protein-richfoods of plant origin, including grains, legumes (dried beans), roots, tubers, bananas and plantains. In other words, your morning bowl of bran flakes, the bread in your lunchtime tuna sandwich and the rice you serve with your dinner stir-fry. Also included are the banana you slice on your morning bowl of cereal, the beans in your noontime bowl of chili and the sweet potatoes you serve on Sunday with your roast turkey. Isn’t a banana a fruit and a potato a vegetable? Yes, but they are higher in starch than other fruits and vegetables. That’s why they are in the “other” plant foods category. Date: July 22, 2007 12:58AM shirleys-wellness-cafe.com was I think one of my first exposures to a raw food diet, I can't recall if it was dog food first from her site, or if I found info on raw food for people there, but it is a very interesting site. I also read for the first time about the dangers of microwave ovens, and went on to do more research on them.
I quit using mine, even to heat water, and haven't had one for about 4 years. Love, Prism Re: The Incredible Healing Powers of Raw (Living) Foods and Juices !!!!!!!!!!!!
