Date: October 14, 2007 09:23AM Ive got a slow cooker, but not got a dehydrator. does the low temperature of the slow cooker allow food to be cooked without destroying the enzymes in the same way as a dehydrator would? in other words, can i save buying a dehydrator?! Re: slow cooker?

Date: October 14, 2007 03:10PM a slow cooker does just that, it CooKS. sorry.
you can use a warm oven for dehydrating but david mason keeps posting instructions for this awesome dehydrator using a box fan and air conditioner filters. just google that, box fan dehydrator. cheap and easy! Re: slow cooker?

Date: October 15, 2007 01:14PM i was just reading about this today in Cousen's "conscience eating". He says if your cooker operates at below 115 degrees, then you can cook without cooking, but it won't dry out food like a dehydrater will... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
