no. you can make raw fermented pickles and kraut yourself but commercially sold they are not raw and, i'm sure, full of preservatives to boot!

Just as Coco says. Keep in mind however that if it helps YOU to transition to eating more fresh fruits / vegetables.....then those would certainly be more acceptable transition foods - don't you think?

I have to admit that I do get that salad when we have a night where we get food to go from Subway. I give credit to them that it contains a little more than just lettuce, as is the case with most other salads at fast food places. I don't think I ever got it with pickles but the dressing ain't too raw I bet. Still, it's better than ending up with a foot long sub!

Yes, their lettuce, tomato, bell peppers, and onions are raw. If they have been soaked in vinegar like the banana peppers or pickles or even the olives, then they are not raw. I hope that helps.

Herbed Pickles
From Vital Creations by Chad Sarno

Vital Creations by Chad Sarno
$19 3 cucumbers sliced
2 c raw apple cider vinegar
1 c water
1/2 T Celtic Sea Salt
1 T peppercorns
4 bay leaves
6 cloves garlic
1 dried chili pepper, whole
2 sprigs of fresh oregano
T fresh dill seed

Slice the cucumbers and set aside. In a Quart sized mason jar, combine all the spices and herbs, and pack in the slices cucumbers. Pour apple cider vinegar in the jar until 2/3 full. Fill remaining space in the jar with water. Tightly close the lid. Shake and refrigerate for 1 week to pickle. [We've found them to be a nice snack even after only 24 hours in the refrigerator.]

Also try to pickle garlic, bell peppers and zucchini. They're a great addition to salads.

Mango19,

I have not tried to make them yet but it's on my list of things to do.

I see banana peppers all the time at my local farmer's market, and sometimes at Whole Foods or other healthy type grocery stores.
