Date: November 01, 2007 07:06PM Hi ya'll!
I was wondering about raw sweet potatoes. We can get awsome white sweet potatoes here in Kentucky that to me taste just like a baked potato! The lady I bought them from said you shouldn't eat them raw 'cause she'd heard Daniel Boone had died from eating a raw sweet potato!!!My little 10 yr old girl piped up and told her we shoulda' been dead long ago 'cause we've eaten so many.Anyone out there know where this "fable" came from? Also a friend of mine works for a medical doctor who told her she should never eat them raW...I FEEL GREAT EATING THEM....SO,ANY INFORMATION ANYONE??? Re: What about raw sweet potatoes??

Technically, you could, but it's not such a good idea. Maybe if you cut them up into chunks and soak them in water to drain off the alkaloids. Re: What about raw sweet potatoes??

Date: November 02, 2007 07:53PM I did a search on them, and could fine only one thing about warming them to 90 degrees for a few min. if you wanted to make sure there were no tyrysine?? inhibitors or something like that.Everything else said they contained no alkaloids as they were not from the nightshade family...by the way...has anyone researched nightshades??Check out www.normanchilders.com wow! I quit them 2 yrs ago and noticed a HUGE difference in my feelings of well being... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
