When to throw carrots out ?

I have about 10lbs that's been sitting in the bottom drawer of my fridge for a few weeks.I'm assuming I should throw them out since they have flowery things growing out of them?

I had that dilemma before too. I decided that if they start growing, it's time to let them go.

I throw them out when they start to go dry or mouldy - wouldn't worry about flowery bits at all :-)

I check my carrots out by trying to bend them, if it bends slightly, I'll throw them out, if it cracks as I try to bend it, it a keeper.

Use a potato peeler and peel em, see how they look then.
They keep longer than most realize.

you know, if you soak them in water it firms them up again. i don't think they're bad when they get a little soft, just dehydrated. it helps to keep them bagged, they really do last a long, long time. they are a root cellar veggie for sure.
