Observation: Remember that store-bought oranges are often injected with 'food grade' dye. I'm serious! Read the package! Ha! ha!

Oranges contain carotene just like carrots, but not as much.

Sometimes your skin can get orangy from eating foods containing lots of carotene (or from eating lots of foods containing carotene).

That's happened to me before. My doctor told me it's absolutely nothing to worry about.

You can also get orange/yellow skin from jaundice, which is caused by toxins accumulating in the liver. I would venture a guess that's not your problem! smiling smiley

One time my husband was at the check out counter in a health food store, and the checker took him aside and whispered that he should go to a doctor immediately because he must have serious liver disease! He looked normal to me, just like he always looks. We thought that was pretty funny! He'd been eating lots of papayas at the time.

If you do get concerned, of course check it out with a doctor that you trust.

surely not in organic produce?

and not in unwaxed produce?

My hands were quite orangey the other day actually, but in patches.
Gone now though (the marks not my hands).

I turned orange once after eating a lot of spinach!
I don't eat spinach now, just perpetual spinach - which is a beet.

I turned blue once after eating too much pineapple.
I don't eat pineapple anymore, just eternal pineapple - which is a mango.

Beautiful...
