raw honey and tea

Date: January 25, 2008 03:09PM Hey guys,
I drink my green tea with honey (the processed kind). I want to switch over to using raw honey as a sweetener for my tea. However, am I getting any benefits? The tea would be hot and would kill off the enzymes. So, after this stage, is there any difference between the grocery store honey and the raw honey? Just wondering as there is a price gap and if it would be worth buying the raw honey. Thanks. Re: raw honey and tea

you should be aware, however, that honey is not a vegan food and it's discussion here can get a little contentious. there are certainly many who consume it but also many who oppose it's use as much as they do eggs or dairy. cheers. Re: raw honey and tea

Date: January 25, 2008 03:53PM Yes, there is a huge difference between raw honey and already pasturized honey. When making tea, let the water cool a bit then add your raw honey. I believe most of the enzymes would still be in tact. Re: raw honey and tea

Date: January 25, 2008 03:54PM Right. This is certainly a Vegan forum. My personal experience is that I avoid honey - or any other products that require animals....as much as I can. However...if YOU determine it is helpful for you....I support you 100% (just don't ask me to buy it for you...or get it from the bees!)

Honey is the ONLY food known to man that never goes bad. Never is a pretty darn long time. That is some cosmically divine stuff. Call it good or bad, But it can hardly be seen As anything but A gift. [www.oneillpaul.com-a.googlepages.com] Re: raw honey and tea

Actually Bryan thats not true... :p they have a shelf life of 25 days (which is still pretty scary if you consider we are talking about a baked good.) Totally gross and unnatural lol My website: The Coconut Chronicles Re: raw honey and tea

Date: February 06, 2008 04:38AM I thought twinkies had a shelf life of 99 years or something. maybe they changed something about them since the time when they were a big part of my diet.

Date: February 06, 2008 04:48AM I had thought so as well for awhile but Snopes did an article on it some time ago (it's actually a humorous read): Click
They get their longevity from not containing any dairy products apparently. Still makes me *shudder* a bit... I mean if you think about it in terms of a regular SAD cake or pastry 25 days is still quite a long time for a baked good to last! Scary stuff!
