Yes, you are Weird, as we all are. If you
don't like Green Smoothies, you're not using the right
ingredients. Try more Green, with less Fruit, with more
variety.....WY

Yes, you are weird, as we all are. If you don't like green smoothies that is ok. Maybe your body doesn't need green smoothies right now. Maybe your bank account doesn't need a Vitamix. Maybe you had a bad experience while Kermit the Frog was singing, "It's Not Easy Being Green" in the background.

I don't like everything everyone else likes. I'm ok with that.

There's a lot to be said for Smoothies.
Your teeth are easier to care for.
Your food has gotten a good start on Digestion.
It's easy clean-up using a Blender.
Shopping is easier making the same smoothies over and over.
Staying 'Raw' is easy if you learn how to make tasty smoothies.

Someone help me out here. Can anyone think of something Positive
to say about Smoothies?......WY

they

1.smell good
2. look good ( like a colorful pudding if u put it in a bowl and decorate it with mint and a slice of strawberry)
3. taste good ( esp. if u put purple corn in it)
4. feel good ( before during and after)
5. creates good karma

i can't think up of anything else

that's it for now

You're not. I am not fond of it either. I much prefer to chew and taste every little bit of what I eat.
Also, it makes me engulf a lot of food in a short time and my belly doesn't like it at all...
sorry WY

Ok, ok, Wheatgrass Yogi, I'll help you out here since what I said could be viewed as anti-smoothie... smiling smiley

Smoothies are awesome for breakfast. You can make lots and drink 'em for mid-morning snack then for lunch too.

You can always freeze fruit that is about to go from ripe to rotten and then throw them in the blender when fresh organic fruits are not in abundance.

They ARE easy to make. If you aren't sure how the taste will turn out, just make a little.

Even SAD eaters will try them thanks to mainstream smoothie type places (that fill their smoothies with ice cream, commercial yogurt, sugar, etc.)

They beat Slurpees any day!

How's that? smiling smiley

In weird rawness,

I loved smoothies as a vegan, adored raw smoothies at 50% vegan... and when I went 100% raw, my stomach started REVOLTING against them. Definitely weird! I think I like my greens and my fruits separate. I also enjoy the crunchiness of greens more, perhaps we like to chew. =)

I feel more satisfied eating my smoothie ingredients one at a time, it feels like I lose the specialness of each fruit if I blend them together. Like the cinnamon-like undertone of mangoes, the tanginess of goji berries, the subtle tropical sweetness of coconut water...

They do have their benefits. Everyone changes with time. Perhaps I will be addicted sometime in the future again. :O

I don't think you're weird. Maybe add more fruit vs more veggies for starters, or stay away from green smoothies. One can thrive by not drinking them.

Good call Utopian!! STRIVE to be weird espeicially when our society lives by such strict guidelines and an inability to think outside the box as a general rule, for SURE!! I am with you on that one, great advice.

I like smoothies. It's a good way to get an abundant amount of greens that would, or may, be less appetizing alone. You did say that you like green juices, so you are probably getting the good stuff in some other way.

I, personally, love the texture. I'm able to get about 6-8 cups of kale/collards in me each smoothie I drink. I get all the fiber too. I'm not that fond of kale or collard salad ... maybe I just don't have a good recipe. It's been a while since I tried making any. Any good kale or collard recipes?

Green smoothie calmmmm....

If I need to get back on track I have two a day and then alls well again. I couldn't do raw without them where I live (Canada) I don't think. With the lack of sunshine here - I finally ran low on Vit D a couple of weeks ago - at least I started to feel blue/depressed, green smoothie took that away.

Many call it liquid sunshine.

I think anyone who uses the word "weird/wierd" is weard/wired/word/weired/etc.

I mean,....come on.....how many variations are there.

There's only one you. You're not bipolar like they call Brittany (and neither is she)...

You're not (insert MadLib) label here.

You are....what you know you are....at that deepest place....that

we all are...., but you are allllso...

the uniqueness that is you on the level of the shoes that you wear and the toothpaste that you use.

Cherish this, my friend. I do.

Love,
Paul

“You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. You are the same decaying organic matter as everyone else, and we are all part of the same compost pile.”

-- Chuck Palahniuk

I don't think diagnosing Brittany Spears has anything to do with this. Let's leave the poor thing out of it. Let's also not insult those who do suffer from emotional and/or psychiatric disorders or imply that they are "weird" if that word does (for you) mean something bad or wrong or less than.

<sigh>

Is the original poster weird? She asked, a few of us responded informatively and lightheartedly in a way that seemed to be meant to support her.

If you want to really analyze it sans any sense of humor, perhaps the original poster is "strange" or has an "extraordinary character" ... as in the dictionary definition of the word "weird." Perhaps not.

Certainly, none of us is actually a beautiful and unique snowflake as we were told in kindergarten. The universe can get along just fine without us.

The universe doesn't care if the original poster or if any of us stays raw.

Forgive our humor and recognize our intentions -- to stay raw and support those who want to stay raw.

This is, still, a support forum for that.

“Our generation has had no Great war, no Great Depression. Our war is spiritual. Our depression is our lives.”

-- Chuck Palahniuk

I'm going to drink a long, tall glass of fresh juice.

you must. massage. the kale. with whatever dressing you like (lemon juice, sea salt, fresh ground pepper, basil, and a splash of EVOO works great for me). get in there with your hands and slap it, knead it, rub it down! massage it unti it looks like you cooked it! then wash your hands and eat. or eat and then lick your hands. or whatever.

very yummy, and very therapeutic!

I LOVE kale salads. I never thought I'd like raw kale, but if you rinse it, salt it, let it sweat about 10 min., then rinse again, it's very soft. Yum.

Oh, wow, this sounds wonderful!!! I can't wait to go buy some kale and fresh basil tomorrow and try this. I'm looking forward to the making of it as much as the eating of it (with my hands!).

On top of the other benefits already mentioned, I love the fact that I can eat my breakfast (a yummy quart of green smoothie) at a leisurely pace while I'm doing other things around the house.

I've gotten away from Green Smoothies in favor of Fruit Smoothies. I think it's the Broccoli Stalks that were making mine a little bitter. However, not trying to Gross anyone out, I like the way the Green Smoothies come out over the Fruit Smoothies.....WY

My co-worker said to me today, "I ate an orange the other day. It was good. I don't know why I don't eat them more often." Then she smiled even though, while smiling, she looked a bit sad and a lot tired.

Her thought was prompted by my eating some oranges as a mid-morning snack. Sometimes she looks at me as if I'm some sort of exotic animal in a zoo that she's been allowed to see up close.

She's well over 250 pounds at maybe 5' 2" height. She's normal.

Her skin is pink and gray and yellowy white. She's normal.

She's been on antibiotics for at least two months now. She's quite normal.

She drinks can after can of Diet Coke. She's so... normal. Perfectly normal.

"...Sometimes she looks at me as if I'm some sort of exotic animal in a zoo that she's been allowed to see up close."

That's awesome Lee! That so perfectly describes so much of my work interactions...

My sister and brother-in-law are both diet coke/pepsi addicts....2+ litres/day, but now my sister says it's ok because she started drinking Diet PepsiPlus
...which has added vitamins. She said she didn't think she'd like it at first because usually she only likes "normal" food.

So grateful to be abnormal, and to be part of this community of amazing inspirational weirdos!
