Cacao and headaches

Can cacao give you a headache? I have had a throbbing headache for 2 days now and I don't know why. I have had smoothies for the past 2 days and they had cacao in them. Could this be the reason or is it something else?

Yes, cacao could give a headache, sleeplesness, or even heart palpitations. Depends how much you take, how used your body is to taking it etc.

yes! I cannot eat it at all, I always get a headache the following day, such a bummer because it is so yummy, but i think it is for the best after all because i do not think it is that good for you and the reality of headaches keep me from overindulging

Cacao is an interesting substance. I think, like many things, it affects people differently. I personally don't have much interest in it unless I am dealing with female issues; in that case (for about three days a month) it is my best friend!!

effects of cacao
running on snow
driven cut
trying to sleep
but the snow keeps interfering
more snow
bzzzzzzzzzzzz

cut snow
jagged snowflakes
coursing through my veins
sapping my energy
in a strange and confident
even confiding way

lulls my blood
tells me to go to sleep
you are tired

i say yes
yes to cacao
the little sleep robber
sleep inducer

snow jagged mind seducer

I have never had a headache from cacao, and I've eaten it lots of times. The only adverse effect I've ever felt was when I ate a large serving of cacao at midnight, then couldn't sleep till 3am, and I'm not 100% sure that my lack of sleep was due to the cacao, as I was already up late, working on a project.

I feel that cacao affects different people differently. This is why some people have negative experiences with it, some people love it and profess it's benefits, and still others are indifferent to it.
