Date: February 25, 2008 09:00PM I was wondering...Is there anyone on here who drinks diluted plant grade hydrogen peroxide? My boyfriend (whos also raw) recently started doing it and thinks its a wonderful idea.
I haven't been able to find much about it on the web yet. Any thoughts/opinions? Is it "raw"? Re: Plant grade hydrogen peroxide

Date: February 25, 2008 09:11PM I've never heard of plant grade hydrogen peroxide, much less drinking it! I'm gonna sit back and watch the wisdom roll in.
Great, albeit scary, question Leesah. Re: Plant grade hydrogen peroxide

[educate-yourself.org] I just want to make sure there is some kind of scientific evidence behind drinking it (very diluted...something like 1 drop for a tall glass of water). I hope someone on this forum knows something! Re: Plant grade hydrogen peroxide

Date: February 26, 2008 12:20AM Hey, thanks for the link. Still scary, but interesting. I'll pass on it personally. For those who don't want to sift through the information on the link, here's the bit about hydrogen peroxide being food grade. The tiny fact I put in bold really settles the issue for me. (By the way, they use 90% grade hydrogen peroxide in rocket fuel. A little tidbit they mention immediately after the part about the 35% grade burning your skin on contact but being okay to guzzle!)

Date: February 26, 2008 02:02AM H2O2 is an oxidizing agent. Why anyone would want to willingly drink it is beyond me.
Age faster. Get rustier inside. Etc. Re: Plant grade hydrogen peroxide

Date: February 26, 2008 02:11AM I use just regular hydrogen peroxide if I feel like I might be getting the flu bug or whatever is going around and I feel like it's starting to hit me. I take only 3-5 drops in a glass of water, stir and drink it. It takes care of the oncoming symptoms quickly and I only usually take it once. Sometimes I've taken one glass one day and then one glass the next day but rarely.
I also put 1/2 Cup sometimes in my bath water and soak in it. I also keep a spray bottle of it and spray my body with it after my bath/shower. I use the 3% solution. I also use it in my water pik for my teeth, and I've been brushing my dogs teeth with it lately and it's helping with his teeth problems. Love, Prism Re: Plant grade hydrogen peroxide

Date: February 26, 2008 03:31AM My boyfriend is also using it on our plants, as it is supposed to help them grow heathier (by providing more oxygen?). We lightly sprayed our wheatgrass and it helped get rid of that cotton-like mold that grows near the roots of the grass.
That's as far as I've been willing to go so far. Re: Plant grade hydrogen peroxide

Date: February 26, 2008 03:43AM Hey Arugula,
Could you please elaborate on what an oxidizing agent would do to the body? I tried looking it up on Wiki but all I could find was "liquids or solids that readily give off oxygen." The pro-H202 site seemed to be saying that was a good thing... Would love your input. Re: Plant grade hydrogen peroxide

Date: February 26, 2008 04:02AM Oxidative stress is one of the major sources of elective aging in living organisms. Willingly taking in a source of oxidative stress is going to speed up the aging process. This is why it is important to have good antioxidant defenses, and one of the major reasons why a raw plant food diet is so protective.
In very basic terms, an oxidizing agent is any one that adds an oxygen atom or molecule to a compound, adds a halogen (chlorine, flourine, bromine) or takes away hydrogen. Peroxides are ALWAYS oxidizers. Opposite to an oxidizing agent is a reducing agent: a compound that adds hydrogen, takes away Oxygen or a halogen. Vitamin C, for example, is a very strong reducing agent. Re: Plant grade hydrogen peroxide

Date: February 26, 2008 04:50AM Thanks for the info. That helped.
It seems like this is the against logic: If there were extra oxygen, the cells would interact with it (as they do in breathing) and produce free radicals. These free radicals are bad for the body and that's why are cells are always in a "reducing state." Thus, why antioxidants are good for the body. Makes sense. The pro side seems to say this: White blood cells produce H202 to rid the body of harmful invaders. Vitamin C helps fight off invaders by producing H202. The increase in H202 causes the body to produce more prostaglandins, which destroys harmful bacteria and viruses. Also, helpful bacteria flourish in oxygen rich enviroments but bad bacteria can't live in oxygen rich environments. So, its either really good for us or really bad for us. Hmmm...I started the raw food lifestyle to be more natural and in touch with my body/nature. I think I'll sit this one out. Re: Plant grade hydrogen peroxide

Date: February 26, 2008 05:25AM Wow, I might take a bath with some in the bath, but I would not ingest it. What happens to him when he drinks it? It goes through his stomach as is absorbed where?. Re: Plant grade hydrogen peroxide

Date: February 26, 2008 10:38AM Robert O. Youngs book, "The pH Miracle" started me out on raw foods (he recommends 80% raw food in the overall diet), and his healing protocol includes "pH drops" or H2O2 diluted in water. He suggests this (strongly I might add) with no more fanfare than one would expect from any recommendation of supplementation: in other words, like its no big deal.
He says, "Here's what everyone should take daily: "Chlorine dioxide (C1O2) or hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) or pH drops are safe, stable substances that release oxygen in the body and chelate foreign material. Remember, the bad microforms are anaerobic, thriving in the absence of oxygen. The oxygen released by these substances devolves and eliminates yeast and fungus and inhibits spores. You can use ordinary hydrogen peroxide." and so on. One would assume that DR. Young ingests these "pH drops" everyday himself. I guzzled quite a lot of it over several months with no apparent ill effects...no hole in the gut or esophagus that I'm aware of. In fact, I felt quite wonderful on it in the beginning...until one day I didn't like the way it made me feel anymore. Not long ago I tried a few drops in my water again and it made me extremely nauseous (a not uncommon side effect) and so I did not continue. One of the reasons I lurk moar these days (nods to pakd4fun ; ) is that after almost two years of experimenting with diet and supplementation (this time around) I've come to the realization that I don't know jack about diddly. I'm very hesitant to recommend anything to anyone based strictly on my own experience. Even in the beginning, when I was guzzling H2O2 with the confidence of the ignorant, I was not inclined to recommend it to anyone else because the research is patchy on the subject and very polarized. The strongest objections come from ingesting it - the preferred delivery is intravenous - and the concern is to the delicate lining of the esophagus and stomach. Still, the use of H2O2 has been around since the early 50's in the treatment of candida, some cancers and other maladies stemming from an over-acid internal- body environ with good success. In the long run though, a good, clean, whole foods diet may accomplish the same goals without the risk. khale Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
