I've never heard of it. I notice that the publisher, Fruitarian Vibes, hasn't published anything else that's for sale on Amazon. That makes this look like a self-published title.

I also notice that one of the two reviewers claims to have had the book for several years when it was just two years after publication. This doesn't necessarily mean anything, but the fact that the reviewer hasn't published any other Amazon reviews adds to my doubt.

The second review seems to be legitimate praise from a fruitarian raw-foodist.

Edit: There's a website: [www.fruitarianvibes.com]

I read it years and years ago, it's a decent "basic" starter for anyone interested in Fruitarianism.

Thanks frances for finding that link, the articles section has a lot of great info.

Thanks F1 and David for the reports! I think I'm going to buy the book. I also found another fruit-oriented book on amazon: "Jay Robb’s Fruit Flush" - for people who want to be fruitarians for just three days. Whatever :-) But it looks like it might have some good info, even though the reviews mention that it recommends a protein powder of some sort, it's only $5, and, it qualifies for super saver shipping too.

Sure. The books can be very inspiring. Make sure to also share your thoughts and experience with those that HAVE been walking the walk (myself among others)...and eating this way for many years....to get their experiences and what has worked for them. This might be helpful to you also.

Yes, I have it. I read it in France. Its really a good book although half of it is a glossary of fruit, I don't need that, I know what an avocado is thank you.

Got Fruit the Ultimate Diet today! It's very good,

The author was raised on a farm (conventional) so he has great insight into how the food production chain works.
He tells what he eats thoughout the changing seasons - fruit and lots of it - about a pound an hour all day long.
He touches on the protein and calcium myths and he talks about the test for a TRUE food.

Great Book.

-

I also got The Fruit Flush book
[www.amazon.com]
it is a "fad diet", if I may call it that (nothing you would do long term, the book talk about doing this 3 days a week for 12 weeks). It consists of eating 100 calories of fruit every two hours and using a whey protein powder (instead of fruit) on day 1 and in the evenings of the other days to rev up your metabolism and feed the lactobacteria in your colon.

It has a lot of good things to say about fruit and dispels myths about hypogycemia and fruit. It probably wouldn't interest most people here since it is targeted to non-vegan, non-rawfooders, but someone who read this book might get interested in fruitariansm through reading the book.

I read the book a few years back and enjoyed it. I just wonder if he is still in Arizona growing all those good fruits he talked about in the book.
And if his date trees started to fruit.
The book was published if I remember correct about 9 or 10 years ago.
No talk of durian or jackfruit in the book but he does talk about other tropical fruits he had in Hawaii.

Cherimoya,

Love Peace and Happiness,

Ok, "The Test" has four criteria:

1. Food must be appealing to the eye (i.e. food must look like food and fruit is colorful and catches the human eye)

2. Food must be edible raw

3. Food must be able to become a meal by itself

4. Food must be digested easily and efficiently

And he has 7 lists of sample daily intakes for different times of the year, this one is for July/August:

8:00 1-2 lbs watermelon
9:00 1/2 lb grapes
10:00 1 lb bananas
10:30 1 lb peaches
11:30 2 Hass avocados,1/2 lb tomatoes, sometimes with cucumber and red peppers
12:30 2 lbs watermelon
1:30 1/2 lb grapes
2:30 1 mango
3:30 1 lb bananas
4:30 3 lbs watermelon
5:30 1/4 lb grapes
6:30 1 lb peaches or 1/2 pint blueberries
7:30 1-2 lbs watermelon
8:30 1 lb bananas or 1 Hass avocado

I can see why he planted his own orchard :-)

In the winter he adds dates and citrus to his diet. He is not into apples and pears and says that lemons are not useful because they cannot be eaten by themselves (I don't agree, I cut up limes into slices and my kids love them)

While the cover of the book has a palm tree on it, he says that coconuts seem to have been designed to be a perfect source of water more than anything else. And that man has important relationship with the coconut tree, because man exclusively can move the coconuts to a new location away from the mother tree where they can sprout.

13 lbs for an active man, that's about right. It could cost $20-$30/day to eat like this without a well-stocked backyard.
