I used to always pronounce it "veggan" with a short e sound or like "vaygan" (sounds kind of the same). But now I hear everyone pronouncing it "veegan" with a long e sound. Is the European pronunciation different from the US pronunciation? Re: Veegan (long e), veggan (short e), or vaygan?

Date: May 31, 2006 01:28AM It's ve-gan, with a hard e. There was an interview with the creators of the movement in VegNews awhile back. It's actually a name of a group, not just a regular word. =) Re: Veegan (long e), veggan (short e), or vaygan?

Date: May 31, 2006 03:52AM If English used the pronounciation used by other European languages, it would seem that it ought to be spelled "vigan". Re: Veegan (long e), veggan (short e), or vaygan?
