I finally got a juicer!
Posted by: Itzdavey ()

So I finally determined that with my hiatal hernia/GERD that a juicer was no longer a luxury but a MUST. So I just got one today. Paid about $170. It was that or the Jack Lalaynne one which looked cheesy, and I was hearing the voices of people in my past who have always said that you really should invest in a good one.

My first drink was carrot/apple/celery. It was wonderful.

I also just juiced a ginger root. After so much time looking for hernia/GERD remedies on line that was the first and so far only natural thing I have found about healing this. It says to do a teaspoon a day. But of course I wanted to try it so I just juiced a whole root and drank it. I'm still on fyre! But I looove ginger.

Now I keep opening my fridge and staring at all my fruits and veggies with a kind of "who's next?" look. I think they are frightened.

Ohh that's right you've got yourself a little farm there.. bwahahaha

Just made some orange juice. Amazing how it comes out. I just peeled off the outer layer and left a lot of the white stuff. It's very foamy and frothy and creamy like. amazing. I wonder if I could just leave the peel on? That's good stuff isn't it?

My favorite is Granny Smith apples with lemon. Tastes light, sweet with a bit of tart, and gives great energy.

lol! I know maui! That's how I feel. You're exactly right.

I actually took my juicer owners manual to work yesterday to get to know it better. Then I was reading recipes online all day at work. I went to the manufacturer's website:

and was IMing the link to my friends and family. Then I watched the demo video on the site. (I didn't really need to watch it, but my friend mentioned it was hosted by this Aussie girl and I kinda have a thing for them).

And all day I was just thinking how badly I wanted to get home and be with my juicer.

Incidentally I have terrible headaches since I started using it. Funny how you think you're doing pretty well on your diet, and then toxins can go "nope! Still here!"

awww arugala so sorry! Was it a really good one or relatively cheap? Might be time to start saving for a really high quality one. Who knows how long the one I have will last. I'm sure you can learn to open your heart to another juicer! smiling smiley

hey arugula

i have a greenstar machine now... but prior to that i had an omega centrifugal for several years but prior to that i think about THREE juicers died on me one after another in very short span of time because i would get SUPER CHEAP ones at the department stores.. my cheapest was 19.95.. the motor could barely hold out

it really does pay to invest in a good one

hey ITZDAVEY... you RAWK dude..
so funny about looking at the fruit/veggies in yer fridge and they loook frightened to you

awwwwww... i never thought of them that way

kinda made me think

but i'm juicing still anyhow

yeah, the ginger is rather strong, isn't it?

juicin john had a good recipe in the juice section that i did a few times

it was his ginger lemonade

it was a nick of ginger, some apples and lemons

it was surprisingly dOlicious!!zzz

It's ok, they just get reincarnated. I use the pulp to feed my pet worms in my vermi-composter.

I'm addicted to ginger I think. If I had a huge supply of ginger I'd be drinking ginger juice a lot. And tea, and making my own ginger ale maybe. (maybe some ginger + lemon + agave in fizzy water).

vermi composter

yep, they do a great job.. those critters, don't they?

reincarnation.. heh :!

ginger ginger ginger

they are rather "warming" internally, too,

and also they do something for the mind

well, they are touted as being great for cerebral circuation

but it seems like it does something more

it seems to be a propellant as in propelling me forward

not sure how to explain it

its not exactly " calming"

it has a fire like quality to it psychically

that is why it seems to impel me forward

I think mine were in the cheap range, about $100 total for the two of them. No $$$ for better at the moment.

I find ginger calms AND energizes. It's a positive kind of calm. When I get that warm tingly feeling from it, it's like it's telling me, "Hey man, everything is gonna be alright."

My favorite evening juice right now is celery apple ginger. I have heard that celery and apple are good for the brain. In the juice bar they sell it as the "Nerve Detangler." Throw in some ginger and I'm Barry White.

I think this calls for a ginger thread.

I finally got one also. Cheap but I will move up next time. I am using it to help transition my kids to raw. WOW you guys should see some of the diapers I am changing now! I wasn't expecting them to like it so much. Is it possible to "Overjuice" your kids?

Wow, you have raw babies!? That's wonderful. Don't see how you could over do it. They are going to be some healthy kids. Just be careful they don't grow up super-fast and super-smart and decide to take over the world or something.
