Refractometer

Does anyone here use a Refractometer to check the Brix Levels of your Produce?
I saw a clip by the BlindGuru where his companion was using one to check Organic vs. non-Organic. I understand it measures the level of Carbohydrates, and also indicates Vitamin and Mineral levels as well.
I think I'm going to get one of those Toys to measure my Wheatgrass Juice. I'm also interested in Carrot Juice....before and after the carrots are juiced......WY

Where would you even find one?! eBay? the black market? :O

That would be amazing if it tested vitamin/mineral levels.

I was hoping that you could tell me. I'm going
to Google it later and try to find one.

I think it only measures the Carbohydrate level,
which is an indicator of the Vitamins and Minerals

I think it only measures sugars and that give you an idea of how ripe and what quality the fruits and veggies are and what conditions they may have grown in if they are quality. I don't think it measures anything else. Once you have probably used it a number of times you learn to select those quality pieces of produce and from where you are consistently get them. I also plan on getting one sometime. But I am pretty sure what you have to do is buy the produce first and take it home to test since it has to be 'violated' to be testedsmiling smiley

You can learn a lot from Ask Moreless PH forum at curezone.com he discuses it and explains is very well.

You can google it and or find them on ebay and I'm told they are very good ones..I don't think you need an expensive one..maybe a $40 one is good enough.

Love,
Prism

Thank you Prism. I did check out CureZone.com...
Ask Moreless, and have just purchased a Refractometer from
eBay. Conventional, tray grown Wheatgrass has a Brix
reading of 5 or 6. But quality Wheatgrass reads up to 20.
It will be interesting to test mine. I may not be as Great
as I think I am. Thanks again.....WY

Refractometer? Yeah, it measures sugar content.

A refractometer is a common toy for amateur beer makers to own. Ask around. You might have a friend who could loan you one for a couple weeks to see if you really want one.

If not, go visit a brewer's supply store and chat with the people who work there. I'm sure they'll be able to tell you just how versatile the instrument is or isn't.

I have a refractometer and it cost me 30 bucks. Rawswammy.com gave one to me free with the blender I bought. I did take it to whole foods and everyone looked at me like I was crazy when I was testing the grapes.

I wouldn't have the B**ls to test them in the
store. I'd buy a small amount and test them at home. Sometimes
I see people sampling the Fruit, especially Cherries. Once I
saw a man putting more Tomatoes into his container from another
container.
Would you share what Blender you bought?.....WY
