What is the Best Cleanse?

The 92-day Juice Feast.....the Master Cleanse.....the Perfect Cleanse.
....Water Fasting.....etc., etc.??? The nagging question is "What do
you do afterwards?" Most revert back to old Habits. I might suggest
that you modify your current Diet to be a perpetual Cleanse....24/7
....day-in and day-out. It should be Whole Foods, with very little,
if any, Fat (until you start climbing the walls).
I like morning and afternoon Green Smoothies, with Juice in between.
Does anyone else have a good Diet Plan? I'm not saying that mine is
the Best......WY

i like the master cleanse cuz the cayenne opens up the cells and the lemon is alkalizing ..

of course, my all time fave is juicing with dark rich green leafy vegetables

yeah, i revert back to my old habits and my habits are green green and more greens
smiling smiley

i agree that diet ought to be a perpetual cleanse ... to be a "clear glass for the light of God to shine through"

hey, regardless of religion, i thought it was a cool quote... just trying to remember who said it

smiling smileyi read it somewhere once and it stuck to me

My "plan" or ideal daily consumption (not that I always attain it, because I don't) goal is:

Breakfast -- organic herb tea (for detox, PMS, stress, or whatever I'm needing that day -- sometimes I skip it), then a big smoothie consisting of 2-3 T. ground flax seeds, 2 c. chopped kale, sometimes a few dandelion leaves, 2-3 c. whatever fruit I have, and water to make 1 QT. This lasts me 4-5 hours.

Lunch -- soup made with 1/2 avo, 1-2 t. miso, 1-2 t. spirulina, spicy pepper blend (made by my partner), mung, adzuki and lentil sprouts (1/3 to 1/2 cup), 1/4 c. diced mushrooms, and 1 c. chopped veggies (whatever is in the garden), or raw nori rolled with lettuce, sprouts, spice, avo and veggies, or a big salad.

Dinner -- raw slaw made with whatever is in the garden, or see lunch. I've also been making "pasta" from summer squash and mixing it with raw pesto, all of it grown by my wonderful partner except the pine nuts.

Snacks -- at certain times of the month, I make a small bowl of cacao, coconut oil, mashed dates and raw nuts (pecans or brazil nuts). Or I'll graze in the garden or eat fruit.

Everything I eat is organic, except at work.

This is my ideal meal plan and serves me well. I work in a fine dining restaurant where we try the food we sell, so I try most of those dishes, but I do not eat meat at all. We get a staff meal, and I have the chef make me a big salad with organic greens, and I bring other veggies and sprouts from home. I do not eat wheat or sugar, and my goal is 100% raw, but for now with my job, I allow a little "slippage" until I can find another line of work that allows me to eat all raw (I am actively looking) and pays like my current one does.

I did a water fast a few weeks ago and found it very easy to be 100% raw after that. I was 100% raw with low fat for a few days before the fast, and felt really good during and after the fast. Maybe I'll do it again, because I have fallen to about 80% and don't feel as good on that as I do on 100% raw.

Hope this helps.

That's quite a Plan you have there Sundancer. Doesn't eating take
up a good part of your day? As for me, I like to keep things 'Simple
and Liquid'. I was just thinking this morning that I don't want to
eat anything that requires a lot of time cleaning teeth....WY

WY - you have no fresh greens? What do you mean really - your local grocer doesn't carry anything fresh? Do you grow anything other than wheatgrass? I can't believe that I have been taking it for granted that I can just buzz into whole foods at any time and get whatever I need.

That's right. I've been using pre-packaged
Organic Mixed Greens from the local Publix, but it's
not the same as Fresh.....WY

I was going to start a new thread, but remembered we had this one going a while ago. I am definitely interested in doing a "cleanse," possibly the Master cleanse, but was hoping to get some more feedback on detoxing/cleansing before I make any decisions. Has anyone had personal experience with cleansing? My friend recently told me about Joshie's Holistic Detox, anyone ever heard of it/know anything about it? I think it might involve cooked food, but am really unsure. Anyway, any information would be great! Thanks!!

hi veggiefreak-

i'm going to start the master cleanse in a few days. i've done several different cleanses in the past, but have never done this one. it's simplicity is very appealing to me, and so many people have benefitted from it.

i would love to find some cleansing buddies to help me with mine, i'm going to begin when i get back in town on sunday or monday.

good luck to you whatever direction you go.

i also posted a thread called "master cleanse" in the main forum.

I still say that instead of going on one of those Fad Cleansers,
let your Diet be your nourishment, and your Cleanse!! I prefer
Green Smoothies and Water, but I know many here like Fruit, with
very little, if any, water. A good Rule-of-Thumb is to ask yourself
"How quickly does my food pass through me?". You take it from there.....WY

the "best" cleanse is the one that works the best for your individual body

i'm partial to the master cleanse, green juice fasts, sprout fasts and water fasting

however, i pretty much stick to water fasting now as i no longer like drinking the senna tea that is required for the MC. but it's an excellent cleanse if this is the one that's speaking to you

The only cleanses I have successfully done (lasting more than 3 days) has been Orange Juice (14 days my longest time), watermelon (5 days my longest time), and Juice Feasting (45 days). Nothing else felt satisfying enough (water fasting, master cleanse, coconut water). Orange Juice was pretty incredible, and very simple and cost effective. Juice Feasting is expensive and time consuming, but by far the most phenomenal!! But yes, like WY, I would recommend a cleansing day to day diet. Not only are you likely to revert to your normal diet after a cleanse, but because your body is cleaner, you may need less food and your digestion may be more sensitive. As a result, eating the same may cause you to be less healthy, and gain back weight lost on a cleanse, or even more.

One must be careful on a long Juice Feast using acid fruit. The Body
will pull Calcium and Magnesium from the Teeth and Bones to neutralize
the acid. Everyone thinks Acid Fruit leaves an Alkaline Ash, not realizing
it's from our own reserves. Best to Juice Feast with Green Juices.
I have a Grapefruit Tree that is loaded with fruit, but I will use them
sparingly when the fruit becomes ripe in November.....WY
