How many of you are satisfied?
Posted by: Wheatgrass Yogi ()
Date: February 01, 2009 01:01PM

After searching for years for the best juicers and blender,
I've decided to quit looking, and go with what I have. In
short, I'm satisfied. My question then is how many of you
are 'set'? There comes a point when you must stop looking
and buying, and just start doing.
My final lineup......
Wheatgrass Juice....Wheateena Green Label
Carrot Juice........Omega 4000
Celery Juice........Omega 8003
Green Smoothies.....Vita-Prep 3

I don't own a juicer, but can you tell me what the difference is between the Omega 4000 and the Omega 8003.

I hope to someday have more equipment to do this, so I'm curious why two different ones?

Thanks.

I go by 'feel'. The 8003 would be the Best juicer
as far as Nutrition goes, and it does well for Celery,
but the 4000 is quicker and easier to use for Carrots.
The 8003 has the fastest clean-up.
If I had to have only one juicer, it would be the Omega 8003.....WY

Here in the South we say 'packed it in',
if you mean your blender died. Have you decided on a
replacement?.....WY

I was 99% decided on a Blendtec and then saw your post. Oh my! Now, I'm rethinking.

Do you know what the difference is between the Vita-Prep 3 is and the 5200? I've seen the 5200 for sale in a few places... I may be over-thinking this but I don't want to regret my purchase.

After the blender purchase, it will probably take me a year to decide on a juicer! ha ha I used to juice waaaaay back, and used a Champion for lots and lots of carrots, but since getting seriously into raw, I'd like to be able to juice other things.

Blender first though.

WY, I really appreciate all your knowledge! Thank you so much.

no but I am leaning towards the vita prep 3

I guess I am looking for a machine with longevity and my biggest concern is the quality of the way things are made these days they just dont have the longevity of old time products

that vitamix came to me (used) over 15 years ago, its been thru some minor repairs and a cord change (damn rats in storage lol)

my vitamix lived longer than my first marriage tongue sticking out smiley

Jgunn, thanks for the chuckle! Now, that's what I want in a blender... something to last longer than my marriage. Please! I am sure I would get more out of it.

All and whomever... I know we have gone over this umpteen times on this board -- the Blendtec vs Vita Mix thing. So I will put THAT aside for now. But, do you think RawGuru is a good place to buy a Vita Mix? I ask because I notice his price is about $25 over others (eBay, large commercial places). Do you think he would meet a competitor's price?

I dunno what to do. Too many choices. smiling smiley

The vitaPrep 3 is a 3 hp blender the 5200 is a 2 hp blender.
vitaprep 3 is a commercial unit for restaurants there for has a shorter warranty.

Vita mix 5200 is the same blender as a 4500 with the difference being the variable speed control knob. Some people use it others do not.

Vita mix 5200 is 449ish
vita mix 4500 is 399ish
and the VP3 is 499+

My personal preference is the Vita-Prep 3, then
the Vita-Mix 5200, then the Blendtec HP3A. The Blendtec may
do a little better blending because of their Blade Technology,
but the Vita-Mix line is easier to use. I'd forget the Vita-
Mix 4500 altogether because it lacks a variable speed dial,
as ydnar22 mentioned so well.
The Blendtec HP3A is on sale for $319.95. Use coupon code-
hp3a......WY

I'm leaning toward the Blendtec because it's for me much less expensive than the Vita-Prep 3. I'll decide by the weekend. I have an email in to Raw Guru's website asking if they would match the Vita-Prep 3 prices I saw on eBay ($469). I just don't know about sending off $469 to an unknown. I have had great luck on eBay but...

I really appreciate everybody rehashing this issue. You are all helping me think this through. Long ago, I followed similar threads here but wasn't in a position to spend the money.

I love the food and will get a lot of use out of the blender. I've been using a friend's Cuisinart blender and blending a lot of greens. That thing is made in a very shoddy manner. It looks like it's rock solid at first glance, but it's a lot of cheap, thin plastic. Using it convinced me that going with a Vita-Prep or Blendtec is the way to go.

Price shouldn't be a factor....go by the one
you like the best. Either way you'll have a good blender.

I like Blendtec myself, 469 on the VP3 did that include shipping and was it brand new?

If so thats a Great Price Below are the wholesale prices from vitamix on the VP3 depending on how many you buy at a time

1 3 5 +25
$588.53 $535.03 $481.53 $457.45

PrimaSupply is prolly the one you are talking about on eBay. There a pretty large Company they do restaurant supply tables coolers that kinda thing. It should be a pleasant transaction.

You guessed the eBbayer right! It's PrimaSupply. I appreciate your letting me know they are for real. That info is a big help.

They include shipping and it's new. Here's the link:

Ok, I took the plunge! After a last minute flirtation with the Vita-Prep, I went back to my first love, the Blendtec. Because of the free shipping, they probably send it by mule, but when I get it, I'll be sure to let you know how it feels to use it. As I said before, I'm using a borrowed Cuisinart that is sadly flimsy. I'm looking forward to not worrying that mere greens are going to burnout the blender.

This has been a long time coming. I am a person of few means and never felt like I couldn't do this lifestyle without a lot of equipment. This is a luxury item for me. Eventually, over time, I'm hoping to aquire other tools, but for now I'm very happy to start with a decent blender. (So in a year, I'll start asking about juicers! ha ha)

I don't think the Blendtec is so much a better blender as it is the blender for me at this time. If someone gave me a Vita-Prep, I could easily live with that too! They are both awesome kitchen tools. I can't wait to get started and give the Cuisinart back.

Thank you to EVERYONE who helped me along the way with my many questions. You have all been so incredibly helpful and I really appreciate your helping a stranger who you may never meet.

The Angels are singing in Heaven....not because
of the brand, but because you made a positive decision to
start Blending. Good Luck with your purchase. Let us know

I used my new Jack La Lanne power juicer pro ( $149.00) for the first time last night, and I was amazed. It has a very large opening and is whisper quiet, I am very impressed.

For the first time? I guess it's an okay
entry level juicer, but you'll want to upgrade if you
become serious about juicing.
I remember watching Jack LaLanne on TV when I was a boy.
Here's a clip of him when he was a young man.

WY, thank you in particular for your guidance. I appreciate your experience in these things.

A year from now I'll be asking for help with the next tool -- a juicer. I know what the quandry then will be: a juicer for things like carrots, celery, etc., or a juicer for wheatgrass. I feel like I could get seriously into wheatgrass if I was growing my own. I'm not yet doing that though. Stay tuned!

It's easy to do. Growing Wheatgrass and drinking
the juice is the Best Thing I've ever done for myself.
However, that Green Smoothie this evening had a nice
'kick'. So it's Wheatgrass Juice first and Green Smoothies
second......WY

PrimaSupply has them on eBay for $469 with free
shipping (see attached link). But I'd try first at
BlenderJuicerDepot.com. The owner posts here as ydnar22.
Call him at 1-877-854-0533, and I'm sure he'll cut you
a good deal. Let us know what you do.....WY

Thank you Wheatgrass Yogi

Yes i am the owner and i don't hide that fact.

The Deal on eBay is one of the best i have seen also.

We have them at 479.95 Free shipping.

I don't know how the guy on eBay stays in business i know our price and his is $5 different but with CC fees and shipping we cant; afford to go any lower and for him he has paypal and eBay which is 13% off the top.
