A sad sad day for my Vitamix...

All it took was a second...for my Vitamix to be completely destroyed!! Arrgh! If you have a Vitamix and a toddler just don't bother putting it out of reach, put it in another room that is off-limits.

I thought it WAS far enough back on the counter... but I was wrong!

I was babysitting another 2 year-old (not my own) and as she ran by in a moment of curiosity, she decided to switch the on/off switch on the Vitamix. It took like, a microsecond, but in that second of being turned on with nothing in the bucket and the dowel inside, it tossed the empty bucket back and forth which caused the black core (that spins the blender) and cracked it in half, shredded the dowel, which dinged the blades, and cracked the bucket. $400 down the toilet!!

Be forewarned!

No more smoothies for us for a while!! Darn it!!

Does the part where the container attaches still spin?

If it does not then it stripped out its real easy fix and i will even send you the part to fix it, takes about 2 mins of your time.

If it is the Carafe you do not want to replace it with part number 1194 you want the New BPA free container which is part number 015842. Safer for teh weee ones that way.

and from the sounds of it you need a New tamper which i have a few of also that i can just send you.

Pm me and i can give you a code to make it very affordable

Congrats on the VBAC my wife is a studying to be a midwife right now shes a Doula and loves doing it.

Yes, that is a much better suggestion than the
one I gave. I do have a new 64-ounce Tritan copolyester container
that I bought separately for my Vita-Prep 3, but still prefer
a 48-ounce polycarbonate container for convenience.....WY

I decided to just go ahead and replace the whole thing - but thankyou for the offers.

I bought it used in the first place and it didn't have the variable speed working when I bought it off craigslist and that limits a few of the recipies.

So the variable speed has opened up a whole new world to me.

New 3-point Toddler Adversion System is in place also. Bucket no longer gets stored on base. Blender base gets turned around so switch faces the wall. Power strip is mounted to wall, high up, and is switched to off when not under supervision!!

Love the new Vitamix!!!
