Vitamix has the new BPA free container, other company's do not. I see this is a marketing ploy by vitamix and here is why. BPA found in any plastics with the recycling code 7 or hard "unbreakable plastics" BPA needs 2 things to leech Time and Heat. In a blender How long does the product actually stay in contact with the container 1-2 mins tops. Is this long enough for BPA to leech its not a film on the container its actually part of the container? Now BPA does leech 55 times faster when exposed to boiling water. Again not another situations you should run into with a blender. How many of us make soup in our blenders? Just because it can does not make it a good idea. Re: BPA Containers

Date: March 05, 2009 03:58PM I have two containers made of the new copolyester
material (called Tritan) from Eastman Chemical Company....a 64-ounce and a 32-ounce. I find them both to be odd sizes for me, so I use a 48-ounce BPA polycarbonate container. My Green Smoothie mixture is pre-refrigerated, so I'm not worried about heat......WY [www.eastman.com] Re: BPA Containers

Date: March 14, 2009 01:41PM FYI,
I contacted Blendtec and they are supposedly coming out with a BPA-free container some time in the middle of the year. That's good news, if (when) I need to replace my container I'll be able to get one of those. Re: BPA Containers

Maybe you should get one of those even though your old BPA container is still serviceable? The road to health is a series of small steps. It's how you feel about it. I'm okay using a BPA container. However, many Raw Food Purists insist on Glass, not even willing to use the new Tritan, copolyester material, much less the BPA containers...WY Re: BPA Containers

Date: March 18, 2009 06:44PM Checking where I obtained my HP3A-Blendtec I am told that BPA-free jars for the "Total Blender" and the more-recent "HP3A" I have (with the 25 automated cycles) will come with the blenders as early as next month April-May. Also: since 1/1/2009 the polycarbonate (present) jars and the new (coming) jars have a three-year warranty when bought with a blender product or purchased separately. That is good news. As you may know, the US manufacturers of baby bottles have discontinued use of BPA plastics in light of public concerns and the latest research/testing which showed FDA set the acceptable BPA levels in plastic much too high. The next question is how the BPA levels factor in for disposable plastic spoons and cups for coffee, hot chocolate, hot soups, etc.? Bottled water is usually room temperature, cool, or cold---but what about the effects of trucking it to stores during the hot months of the year? The harder the plastic, the more BPA the present plastics contained. Product safety concerns are not eliminated yet. P. S. It seems to me, however, that previous notes about use of the existing BPA blender jars show a reasonable balance of caution and reality. I will be replacing my blender jars with the new ones that are coming soon, I will continue using my present ones in the meantime, and I will stick to utilizing water I routinely boil for my family, set aside, and cool as desired.
