Juicers or Juicing?
Posted by: Wheatgrass Yogi ()
Date: April 15, 2009 08:26PM

I'm reminded of something Tamukha said earlier
on the "Carrot Juicing" Topic. I think we miss the 'Boat' when we
try to convince someone else that our Juicer (or juicers) is
the Best. I've been as guilty as anyone here. I think we should be
promoting Juicing instead of Juicers.....WY
P.S. I just drank 20 ounces of Carrot Juice, after Water Fasting this
morning. I'll have a little Celery Juice a few hours before going to
bed tonight. My Juice Fast has begun. Everyone here is welcome to join
me....for a day, or a Lifetime.

well i for one am quite appreciative WY of your knowledge and willing to share that knowledge of the best juicers to get the best juice and to me that is just as important as juicing itself

I'm with you Jgunn. WY is only experienced guy here who is not selling anything.

p.s. I juiced 5lbs of carrot today...Yay! I finally ordered the Omega 8006 with blenderjuicerdepot.com today (it's been on back order for a while). BTW, do you guys feel a little colder than usual when juice fasting?

The Angels are singing in Heaven.
I'm proud of you.

This will give you a chance to juice Carrots with
the 8006, and see which juicer you like. I'm going to
guess you'll like the Jack LaLanne best.
By the way, the Sponsor of this Forum is DiscountJuicers.com
I've always bought from him when I could. He's going to be there
if you ever have a Warranty problem, whereas some of the others
(like eBay) won't.

You will at first, but then the Blood starts circulating
better, and you'll feel comfortable....WY

Now, you're getting me worry. Oh well, I'll need a juicer to juice leafty greens which the Jack LaLanne does poorly. I'll eventually replace the current JL no matter what because I don't like the plastic bowl. (I know that JL now has a stainless steel version.)

Oh no... Then, I would have gotten it from him even w/o the money back return policy, just because I gained soooo much from this site, well you specifically winking smiley.

Let us know what you do about your juicers. Are
you still Juice Fasting? You're welcome to join Kwan and me
under the "Carrot Juicing" topic. I noticed at the main site
that you want Raw Cashews. Be careful with the Fat....WY

Hi Everyone,
I've been reading through your threads and I have a question about constipation and juicing... I have been ramping-up for a juice fast (that I'd like to start tomorrow) by eating more raw foods and juicing at least twice a day, but consequentially have become much more constipated and I am usually very regular. Should I just power through and trust it will all come out when I go to 100% juice? I don't believe in colonics... please advise.

Me again about juicing and constipation... I have started green smoothing in between my juices and that has helped with the jam-ups. In fact, the green smoothies work almost immediately. I might stay on the green smoothies for a few days.

If you stay on Juice long enough, your BMs
will become mostly liquid. It gives me a 'clean' (and
light) feeling....WY

If you are being "close to the line" as to counting nutrients and daily nutrient needs, juicing has some risks. The primary risk is that the nutrients you will consume will pass so quickly that your body will optimize only a percentage of the nutrient input (and the whole point is: that percentage is not 100%!) Breaking down the cell walls helps to make the nutrients more available, but juicing (as opposed to blending) can make your input an express train rather than a local---if people still know these distinctions from back when the "local" train stopped to pick up farmers' fresh milk at nearly every stop, while the "express" trains, like New England's "Yankee Clipper" only stopped at the biggest stops.)

Being sure that your "juicing" retains fiber allows your digestive system to work like the "local" and absorb those precious nutrients as your intake is processed more slowly through your system.

The illustration is like eating an apple, versus eating apple sauce, versus drinking apple cider, versus drinking filtered apple juice. At each stage we get just a little less of what we started with in terms of what our bodies can absorb. Unlike a computer, while we still want quality in, our goal is not quality out. Blending is juice with the fiber. Some juicing eliminates much of the beneficial fiber we need to include in our regimen.

Thanks Manolie....Your points are well taken. I've
tried Juicing, Blending, eating Solids, and combinations of all
three. I do Best on Juicing Only....WY

Why?

I explained my view, favor us with an explanation of yours. If you can have the avocado with the seed, why would you want just the avocado (dare I use the term?) "meat?"

Seed, or in this case the Avocado Pit, is not meant
to be eaten. In fact, Seed is the 'forbidden fruit' mentioned in
the Bible. It contains too much concentrated Protein, which in turn
hinders Spiritual Growth. Nuts fall into the same category. Fats of
all kinds should not be consumed by the spiritual minded.
Vegetables are for Juicing, Fruits are for Blending (or eating). I simply made
the statement that I feel Best when I'm on a Juice Diet of Vegetables
and Greens. I also juice Citrus Fruit when I can get Organic, but
it's not the best way to consume it, as much of the nutrition is in the fiber.
The nutrition of vegetables is in the juice. I've given up on trying to juice
sweet fruits....too difficult for my juicers....WY

Manolie, there are many benefits in giving the digestive system a rest from its hard work. Also, there are synergistic benefits in drinking certain juice combinations. (THere is a great book by Norman Walker on Raw Juices that talks about fresh fruit and vegetable juices and their benefits). Lastly, water fasting has extremely strong healing powers for certain diseases (Joel Fuhrman's book on fasting and detoxification). Fasting or juice fasting can also be very helpful with healing addictions.

I would not recommend juice fasting or water fasting to anyone who is not experienced in a high raw life style already. For one, it will keep excessive and sudden detox at bay during juicing, and secondly, it will provide a healthy base line to which to return to after the fast.

The dangers of long term juice fasting or water fasting are nutrient deficiencies (we do need a minimal amount of healthy fats in order to produce our hormones, fiber has its benefits etc) and weakening of the jaws and teeth due to lack of chewing action. That said, I have heard of people who have transcended even those needs through utilizing the energy of the sun or through spiritual practice. I have not experienced this myself, however.

Lastly, I think it is great to follow one's intuition and be informed.

I think too many people spend too much time getting informed
and not enough time putting it into Practice.
I'm reading that the Human Body has a 30 to 50 day supply of reserves
during a Water Fast....that is before the body starts consuming itself...
..pretty amazing. It's the best information on Fasting that I've ever
read. I'll post a link....WY
By the way c_n, that was good advice......especially about not taking
on a long Fast without first being High Raw. The way to Fast actually
varies with each individual. I do think everyone should Fast in order
to gain maximum health.

I was wrong.....it's 50 to 75 days. Here's the link.
I believe someone here first posted this. I find it very readable.
It's 16 pages if anyone wants to print it....WY

interesting link Yogi, i think it depends on the person tho, a very healthy person might go that long but a very weak person i think would start catabolizing quite a bit sooner. smiling smiley

ie: i would not reccomend a 75 water fast to a person with eating disorder such as anorexia , bulemia etc...

i cant remember who said it here a couple of years ago .. fasting to someone with an eating disorder is like booze to an alchoholic ..
