Is anyone here using a food processor instead of a blender to make smoothies? If so, do they come out any different?

I use a food processor regularly, but not for smoothies. As a rule, a food processor will work better with drier things. If you give it something as wet as a smoothie to process, you'll probably end up with quite a mess. I use my food processor for grinding nuts and/or seeds into crusts and doughs, and for mixing pestos, patés and other thick sauces. Thin sauces and liquids are probably not a good idea.

I'd be interested to know of anyone else has had a different experience.
