Interesting Juicing Experience - Thoughts?

Date: July 30, 2009 06:25PM This morning, I tried juicing parsley with my Omega 8006. It worked very well, and I was happy with how dry the stringy pulp was. The weird thing happened when I was done and tried to pour the juice. It had gone almost instantly solid, and wouldn't pour. It had the texture of tub butter kept on the counter.
I really should have taken a picture. Does anyone have any thoughts about this? Is parsley juice inherently a solid for some reason? Re: Interesting Juicing Experience - Thoughts?

Date: July 30, 2009 07:22PM Yes, it congeals if juiced alone. I've had it happen
to me. Try it with a few other Greens mixed in. Thanks for the reminder. I'm buying some Parsley tonight for my Green Smoothies tomorrow. I have been using Asparagus, but it's expensive, and perishable.....WY Re: Interesting Juicing Experience - Thoughts?

Date: July 30, 2009 08:59PM Thanks, WY. Next time I will definitely alternate sprigs of parsley with another green.
I'm intrigued by the effect. My best guess is that the juice contains too much dissolved soluble fiber to remain a liquid. That doesn't explain why it remains a liquid long enough to drip out of the juicer, but that's probably just part of the mysterious behavior of soluble fiber. Date: July 30, 2009 09:05PM I would like to add - I've been using cilantro leaves/stems in my juices & smoothies, & I absolutely love the fresh bit it gives to the drink. Some describe it as "citrus-like", and I kind of get that a little bit...it is very refreshing/invigorating - to me, at least! Re: Interesting Juicing Experience - Thoughts?

Date: July 31, 2009 11:52AM That happened to me in the blender with fruit and water, when I used parsley - but I also used another green. I am sure it wasn't just parsley as my only green. Re: Interesting Juicing Experience - Thoughts?

If you don't have Wheatgrass, Parsley is probably the Best substitute. One thing I like about Parsley is you can have it in Smoothies....with Wheatgrass, you can't. No matter how smooth the smoothie....sharp Wheatgrass Fibers remain that should not be digested.....WY Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
