I have had great luck picking up blenders at the second hand store for super cheap. Sometimes they are good and sometimes they are great and I can always afford to replace them if I burn out a motor. Craig's list, free cycle, kijiji etc are all good resources. Best of luck, a good blender is such a blessing.

I recommend a Hamilton-Beach like I have. Sorry but I don't have the model number. It was around $35 and I've had it a few years. It's been working so well I haven't yet bought a Vitamix (well, besides the cost of the latter, LOL). I have found the Hamilton Beach products very strong and good. I also have their food processor and it was around the same price as the blender.

check amazon. com for reviews on different blenders as well, as some cheaper models are horrible, while there are even some $20 ones that are very good for the money, ive found amazon reviews tend to get things pretty accurate...

Don't buy a cheap Blender. Your Blender should reflect
your life. Save in other areas, but buy a Vita-Mix.....WY

With all due respect... All buying a vita-mix would reflect is the life of a good thief... because I'd have to rob someone either to get the money or the machine... or both... not that I haven't considered it but my spiritual life insists upon not stealing. and actually even if you lent me the money I'd probably use it for other things ... like moving out of my Mother's meat and chemical infested house!!! Not that I'm not grateful that she took me in when I needed it because I am... but moving on seems more important then buying a machine that might end up in storage when i have the money to travel on!!! But thank you I will keep what you say in mind.

If there is ever a home show going on near you where they are selling the vitamix they sell the demo models after the show for a big discount. That was still way out of my price range in the past but I remember wishing I could have taken advantage of the super deal at the time.

Have you looked at the second hand stores? If it breaks after a few months it will still have been worth the few bucks you spent on it...

You can pick up an older used V-mix or something comparable on ebay for not real big money. Although, I guess there is the chance that it has been put through the wringer in a previous life...

My Hi-speed Waring works perfectly for me; Although not as glamorous as the Blendtec or V-mix, I have used it for 1.5 yrs. (approx.) almost daily & not a lick of trouble with it.

Still slightly expensive, but not as much so as the other Hi speed models. The model I have goes for around $285.00 + ship right now...

Luvyuu, from what I found on amazon.com, its good for the price, as long as your not using ice in it... many say ice is fine, but well, using ice in any blender, even a vitamix, is tougher on it than not, and will reduce the blenders life span.

I forgot to mention, I normally just buy $20-$30 blenders, I have had some that lasted for years, my last one was ancient by cheap blender standards and it worked great as long as I remembered to occasionally sharpen the blades and didn't use ice, although ive used plenty of frozen berries, and I had another cheap blender that worked great for ice, but it burned out after I think it was 3-5 years... I think that was mostly luck though, plus I didnt use it that often.

I think you'll be surprised at how efficiently cheap Blenders
operate if you don't overload them. Just use plenty of water or juice.
Purists use Juice, but I find Water so much easier. Wal-Mart has some that
are efficient. My mother bought a small one-serve Blender there. I believe it's 16 or 18 ounces. Too small for me, but she loves it. I couldn't live without my Vita-Prep 3.
Best wishes with your decision.....WY
P.S. That's very Honest of you about my sending you a check to buy a blender.

Yay you! Keep "chewing" those smoothies though, even if you don't 'have' to winking smiley

I tried a tomato soup the other day, it was alright. Better if it had been warmed a bit I think.
Cherry tomatoes, avocado, zucchini, kelp, onion and garlic powder and dried basil with a splash of apple cider vinegar. It was very sweet from the cherry tomatoes.
Sunny raw kitchen blog has tons of amazing recipes, everything I've tried from there has been amazing.

Omega 2100. [www.discountjuicers.com].

$119, about twice what you quoted as upper end but honestly, gotta agree with WY. I'd do Craigslist and buy used if even $120 is too high.
