Date: September 03, 2007 11:39PM Sometimes a Blender is said to make 'Total Juice'. Maybe that's creating the confusion......WY Re: A Juicer is a Juicer and a Blender is a Blender

Date: September 04, 2007 01:44AM 'Total Juice' - its like..if you took juice..right...and added some kind of fiberous material around it..almost like..a liquid fruit or a vegetable!

Date: September 04, 2007 03:07PM I've seen at least one blender marketed with the idea that you will blend whole fresh foods and then strain the result much as if you were making nut milk. I don't know what I think of the idea. It would take longer and probably wouldn't separate as much juice as an actual juicer, but it might actually be easier to clean up.
I agree that a blender isn't a juicer, but this scheme should yield actual juice and might be a way for people to try juicing before they're ready to invest in a juicer. Has anyone actually done this? Re: A Juicer is a Juicer and a Blender is a Blender

Date: September 04, 2007 03:55PM Yes, I've tried blending then straining to separate the pulp. It doesn't work very well because the blending tends to Homogenize everything......WY Re: A Juicer is a Juicer and a Blender is a Blender

Date: September 04, 2007 04:10PM When blending greens, is the fiber broken down to the point where it's not really fiber anymore? inspirit - aka coolkarma Re: A Juicer is a Juicer and a Blender is a Blender

Date: September 13, 2007 06:42PM Using a blender as a juicer might work okay for fruits (again, it would be more of a smoothie, but you could water it down i suppose), but I don't think veggies would juice well. My husband tried juicing carrots in the blender the other day. (We don't have a juicer yet!) Needless to say, it just finely chopped them, as I thought it would. Date: October 29, 2008 04:47AM before getting a Green Star juicer, I would make juice with a vita mix using leafy greens with an apple and 1/2 lemon and some water, then strain through a "nut milk" bag and it was fantastic. include the lemon rind.
