MY NEW VITAMIX! A few questions...

I found a screamin' deal on a Vita Mix 5000 on craigslist while I was in Seattle for Christmas - just $200! WOOO! I am so happy. I have wanted one of these for at least 8 years.

A few q's though....

Is it important that the variable speed feature doesn't work? The high and low, on and off works just fine. I just wondered if this is an early indication of a greater problem?

Congrats on the vita mix and congrats on the price...my 5000 is 3 years old and I paid a lot more than you...(worth every penny though)!! I rarely use the variable spped knob so I think you will be just fine...I do use my machine for mostly smoothies and with the tamper it is fine to start on high...it has worked every time for me without fail...you will LOVE IT!!! ENJOY!!

Hello
I have had my vitamix for 5 years and LOVE it. Of course, I paid more than you too. :-) I always start it on low and turn it up right away to high for most things, but if you do happen to over load it, it has a switch that will shut it off and cool it down. After 10 minutes or so it will be ready to go again. I think you are fine. Enjoy!
