Date: January 12, 2009 06:05AM My GREEN options are:
non organic spinach in a plastic bag imported from Italy parsley green cabbage chlorella in a powder that's it! if I buy a large head of purple cabbage, would that be considered a GREEN for a green smoothie? Does anybody have any green suggestions? Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/12/2009 06:10AM by Rhythm. Re: I live in eastern europe, and I am having trouble finding GREENS

Date: January 14, 2009 07:28PM Could you grow your own when weather permits? Greens are very eaasy to grow, and they don't need a lot of space.
And you can always grow lots and lots of sprouts indoors in your kitchen. ** good luck Re: I live in eastern europe, and I am having trouble finding GREENS

you can also grow salad greens on windowsills in small pots ... you wont get lots but they make a nice treat you can also go full scale indoor growing using grow lights and look into hydroponics or indoor dirt growing systems / techniques but sprouts are good fast and cheap ...Jodi, the banana eating buddhist Re: I live in eastern europe, and I am having trouble finding GREENS

Yes, and well, green (chlorophyll) is good (and parsley certainly qualifies), but it seems to me the idea of a green smoothie is to get a more nutrient dense drink using vegetables.... if that is true, then a purple or green cabbage smoothie, or carrot, squash etc of any color should be very healthy,IMO.... some say it is very good to eat fruits and vegetables of various colors (pigments).. Date: January 18, 2009 03:19PM As all have already said: sprouts, sprouts, sprouts! Also, depending on where you are, consider getting a wild edible plants guide and foraging for things like nettles, sorrel, dandelion, and some lettuces out in the countryside(and mushrooms, while you are at it). Good luck! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
