New to Raw Foods - soaking navy beans?

Date: March 04, 2009 04:10PM Hi, I'm new to raw foods and brand new to the board. I soaked some navy beans overnight (about 12 hours) and they are still pretty hard. What is an appropriate amount of time to soak navy beans before pureeing them for a dip? My goal is to get the dip to a hummus-like consistency.
Thank you for any advice. Sincerely, Dee Dee Re: New to Raw Foods - soaking navy beans?

I would not eat navy beans unless they are sprouted, and probably not even then. It doesn't matter if you grind up softened ones--they are not a seed and will likely tax your digestion. See if you can sprout them in the usual way as for seeds; if you can't get sprouts, get rid of them, as they're unviable. If you can manage to sprout them, consume only a small amount ground up and see how you feel. Good luck. Re: New to Raw Foods - soaking navy beans?

Would you say the same thing is true for all beans - that soaking them is not enough? Re: New to Raw Foods - soaking navy beans?

Date: March 20, 2009 10:31AM I just got some cannelini beans to try and sprout. I guess this is a bad
idea also :-( Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
