Raw Birthday Party

Date: May 09, 2007 01:23AM I'm planning my son's first birthday, in August. We as a family are trying to transition to raw food. So the party will be a "raw-food-only" party. I have the treats all solved( celery and nut butters, with raisins, amd fresh fruit kabobs. Raw fruit sherbets and for party favors, dehydrated fruit) but I still have not solved the cake. Does anyone have any ideas they may be able to offer me? My budget is limited so I do want to find not-so-expensive recipes. I own a champion juicer, vitamixer and dehydrator. I'm going to be acquiring a spiral slicer soon too.
Much appreciated D Re: Raw Birthday Party

Date: May 09, 2007 01:35AM dates, walnuts, and raw cacao powder.
grind them up in either the vitamix or the champion (i don't own anything but my omega, and i use it for EVERYTHING), leaving some of the walnuts chunky. form into a cake. i've seen icings with raw cashews and honey (whipped with water i believe). this date cake is a hit with everyone. it is chewy, caramel-chocolatey, all raw, and feels great! that's my cheap contribution and is what i bring to most get-togethers. peace- Re: Raw Birthday Party

Date: May 12, 2007 06:29AM You're so cute, earthangel. I'm an adult, but anytime I mention "raw diet" or "natural" she gets a strange look on her face. It's so funny! I guess what I meant is that last year I asked her to make me a raw cake (I'd give her a recipe), but that didn't work out, so I'm going to try again this year. Re: Raw Birthday Party

Date: May 12, 2007 06:33AM Oh, and the fun part is having a Birthday dinner that's all raw. My mother, brother and sister ALL love meat, and most everything they eat, with the exception of fruit, is cooked. Re: Raw Birthday Party

If you or anyone else has a super easy recipe for a raw cake, let me know. Maybe my little girl can help make me one this year. Or if it's easy enough, by herself, which is preferable. But it needs to be SUPER simple. Thanks! And thanks earthangel for the "cake in spirit." That's so sweet. Re: Raw Birthday Party
