Date: August 14, 2010 01:12AM Hi,
I kinda wanted to respond to you, just so you had a response. =) I'm not quite sure what you mean as far as 'treatment' goes for osteogenesis imperfecta. I'm no specialist or pretend to be, however, I think altering your diet that would enhance bone strength and maintain the dexterity of the cartilaginous structures. Someone who has OI (depending on the type) may have added stress on the noted structures above, based on the congenital/genetic anomalies, leading to breaking of the stressed skeletal structures. This may be a given, but the first step I'd take to 'cleaning' up my diet if I had OI would be to remove caffeinated beverages (coffee, sodas) immediately. They conducted a study on the role of nutrition and diet on OI. I do not have access to the results, but here is a link that may help you find the results of the study. If you want me to, I can use all of my resources to help you find the results. This link is here: [www.oif.org] A great website I found for OI is: [www.oif.org] If your friend has the internet, please direct them to the website. If they do not, go ahead and print out a few pages for them. I hope this helps! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
