CT Scan - should I be worried?
Posted by: fruitylou ()

I've read the radiation is high enough to cause cancer in 1/400 people. I have to get a CT scan of my head for unexplained headaches so I'm wondering if this lessens the risk being that only my head will be exposed to the radiation.

I supposed if I eat the way I've been eating that should also lessen my worries, no? Is there anything I can do to detox from this procedure?

Seaweeds can protect against radiation, the brown seaweed extract in particular is very good for this from what ive read.

I don't know if it would effect your scan in anyway though.

I wouldn't worry about just one; why aren't you having an MRI done instead?

That's what I was wondering. I know someone who gets severe migranes and had to have an MRI. It showed something defected..sinus things too narrow. I forget what they're called.

I wouldn't worry about just one either though. Chances are you will have to have xrays of some kinds in your life at least once or twice.

Any more info on the headaches though? Are you sure it's not dehydration, constipation, detox, caffiene/sugar withdrawl? The usual suspects? Personally, I'd be more apt to try cleanses and things before xrays, doctors and medications.
Things in your house can cause them.. mold, dust, gas/diesel fumes outside.. etc. Cat litter gives me headaches. I have to leave my bedroom window open..then fumes get in the house in the morning when people start their cars. Sucks.

I would also try to figure out if my headache was from something I was eating, drinking, breathing, touching.

I get headaches from breathing car fumes, nuts and oils, especially creams, lotions, gels, essential oils, detergents, etc. and things like magnesium stearate, guar gum, zanthum gum, and even from drinking or eating something that has been in contact with broken glass, like a chipped or cracked glass jar. Do you think your headache could be from any of those things. My daughter can't drink because anything alcoholic gives her a headache. With some people it's chocolate or cheese.

You have to observe and experiment.

And in winter headaches can come from high heat and low humidity indoors.

It came back normal! *backflips*

Will probably try to see an ear specialist next as this all began with a plugged ear. They said I had a middle ear infection a few months ago for which is healed now, but I dunno.

Have you tried magnesium, high calcium to magnesium ratio can cause headaches as calcium is a muscle/blood vessel contractor whilst magnesium relaxes.

If you do try then go with the acidified magnesium such as magnesium malate/citrate as there better absorbed and dont come with the problems such as oxide/hydroxide being caustic, poorly absorbed and neutralizing stomach acid. Magnesium oil is also good you could rub that into your head also but it is more expensive.

Acupuncture is what helped me with short term chronic headaches (I only had them for a few months). They were gone after only one session and still are. I like my acupuncturist.
