Guess what my mom ate for dinner tonight???grinning smiley

Soup, made in my new blendtec.

3 tomatoes
1/4 of a decent sized onion
3 carrots
a whole avocado(just the flesh, no skin or seedtongue sticking out smiley)
a sweet wax pepper
lil bit of fresh cilantro
half a clove of garlic
little sprinkle of salt free chili powder, and a tiny bit of Himalayan sea salt.
Enough cold water to be just above the ingredients, then a little extra to thin it out a bit.

and blended with the soup option, according to my thermometer it was 114
and I gave it to her in a mug, and she drank two whole cups (leaving one which I drank) thats probably the most nutrients she has gotten into her in a single day since ive moved here...just in those two cups... that right there was worth borrowing the money to buy the blender...

That is really cool. Good job. Yay for your mom, too.

Smoothies (of course!)
More raw soups
Dips
Fruit leathers (blend/dehydrate)
Sorbets/sherbets
Salad dressings
Yogurts (vegan)

Good suggestions rocketshipsmiling smiley, good to hear you got it in the end.

I suppose like the vitamix it can heat soups up due to the friction? But obviously doesn't boil them. Being that im only high raw and possible like you say the temperature is below what is considered not raw anyway ive been making lots of great soups like you have.

Watch the water if you use tomatoes as they tend to have alot of water and can ruin the soup if you add extra.

yeah, its why I went for low at first, then added extra at the end to thin it down a bit... I didnt put enough in initially, the avocado made it much thicker than I expected...

I also make vegan fritter type things with my vitamix, out of sweet potatoe, onion, and various other vegetables. You need to add a little flour i use any gluten free variety.

Sauces aswell can be very nutrient rich because your using all fresh ingredients, even the herbs alone that get added to various sauces such as cilantro/coriander, parsley etc are very rich in nutrients and phyto-chemicals.

ahhh, wow thats good to know, as I was just thinking about using sweet potato in my blendtec, although im planning on using cooked, but the rest of the ingredients raw... I ws wondering if something so thick would work well, but come to think of it... they do show a blendtec powdering an iphone, I think it will be fine with a sweet potato or two...lol

I dont know what the blendtec is like but sometimes you have to use the taper stick thing with harder ingredients as theres no water to i dont know what the world is almost emulsify to make the blending easier.

Ive been playing around with alot of sauces and salad dressings since your thread on the other forum. Will have to list up some recipes.

What about a chocolate mousse - avocado, banana, soaked almonds, little bit of cacoa, some dates to sweeten - maybe a passionfruit or rasberries too. My son didn't even realise that I had hidden a bit of spinach in there too!!!!

So glad to hear your Mum is eating your soup Curator smiling smiley

Guys, this thread is really old. So old in fact that Curator's mom has since passed away and he has stopped visiting the forum.
Good info here still but it's so odd when such an ancient thread gets resurrected like this.
