Ally, Thank you so much for your post. It is such a great reminder that what works for one person may not work for the next and we must all remember this. Also, you're spirit is so beautiful in that you can recognize individuality and maintain the desire to find what works best for you, makes you feel well, and allows your body to be healthy. It sounds as though you have learned to seet

I did try spirulina shakes a few years ago, I don't remember any specific reactions, or what the other ingredients were, but it was a supplement called Spirulina. Do you recall the name of the product you had? I have had a few odd feelings which I suspect are food intolerance. When it comes to food allergies, the most obvious I have are hives, one or two itchies that are round and red, expe

Wow, When I first saw this subject and had my experience to share I had not considered it quite significant. After the addition by Mama Cass, I now am starting to appreciate my body's reaction. Other than having a headache and muscle cramps after consuming chicken for the first time after a year I assumed the other symptoms of illness I experienced had to do with the weather change or some

VeganLife, I was told by many that it's a very sweet smell. My husban put it as "Why do you have that sweet smell all the time?" It may sound endearing only he was literal and serious, it's a "sweet" oder that seems to come from the breath predominantly.

SkyeBlue, I have gone into ketosis before, but only knew so because of the remarks others had on my scent. Especially that of my father who is a chemist, having dealt with ketones. Otherwise, I do not think I would have ever known that my body entered this stage of metablolism. How were you able to recognize that your body began ketosis? much luck

Hi raine, I have not had chicken since last Thanksgiving, other than that I have had flesh such as fish once every one or two months, and before was vegetarian for a year. Two weekends ago I decided to have chicken instaead of tuna, which would have been my first choice, only I felt a distinct craving for chicken. ANyhow, my husband and I went to Wild Oats, where, from the salad bar I ch

fruitlux, My personal experience: My profile - I am curerntly 25, 112 pounds, 5'8". I weighed around 117-125 from highschool until now. One year ago, after starting raw my weight went to as low as 95 pounds. A vegan raw food diet, including juices, is great for cleansing, high energy and nutrients. But only for so long, unless you are on top of getting variety(as much as I can figur

Thanks for your response, Brian. I was very curious as to what your diet was like as you detoxed and experienced CFS symptoms. It looks like you were mostly raw with a few condiments. Were you doing any exercise or physical activity before the CFS symptoms began? I know that you currently practice Yoga, had you been involved with anything physically before the detox bega ?

Thank you Bell for starting this thread. I was on a predominantly raw diet, started to eat more cooked, but "acceptable" vegan foods such as brown rice, legumes (tons of hummus!). I would try to combine as well as possible, like, only rice and veggies, or only beans and veggies (non-acidic). Then they mixed one day, leading to more and more complex combinations. So the past few m

Hi Rainbow, Kudos to you on giving the raw journey a go, I hope it all works out for you. When it comes to dry skin and eyes, I have found this happens to me when I don't eat enough fats. Fats, quite literally, lubricate. Eyes, joints, the brain, they are essential for many aspects of health. My hair will even become dry without enough. Google dry eyes and you'll find some more info about i

Hi, Just thought I'd add to this thread as I have had a recent experience to relate. I normally have bananas for breakfast, usually just one, mixed with romaine or spinach. I recently picked up a greens supplement in powder form (not raw) but thought I'd try it anyways. Well, I have so much more energy throughout the day now. I am not "spacy" or feeling a lack of something as I di

yuck! how do you know they were eggs? just the look? I'm on day seven and found these weird spider like things coming out, they're completely white and kind of wrapped around what comes out, nothing larger than an inch, usually much smaller. It's just freaky because there's a definite center and what looks like little leggys! please keep sharing yuor experiences!

if you're looking for a laxative effect, try anything with Senna, in fact, try tea that is made only with Senna, in the past that seems to have been enough for me. It only takes a minute or two of steeping, and then a few hours later, it all goes out... Senna creates contractions in the muscles of the instenstines, so it's cleansing from that aspect. worked for me, anyway.

I'm just a bit bent because I miss the living foods of yesterday, but there are many newcomers with new perspectives and light to shed, and I didn't realize there were hall moniters out there, rule breakers? are you a moderator or an interested and curious soul searchi

Hey monson, I've only got enough for one months worth seeing as that's where my budget led me, although I'm thinking I might try two months. My friend did three months, but she's not raw, veg, or vegan so it was probably more beneficial for her. I was really high raw and only simple cooked for a good year. Since winter I've been miscombining and had non vegan foods so I'm thinking two o

you all (responders, have respect) should understand the light that coco can bring to this board that is/has been missing. No offense to Raw Brian, but ever since this board has changed formats, lost the many wise ones except for Lois, Narz, Texas Pear, La V, Dave M, and the so few others that have stuck, I miss those like Coco, who ask about and give what seems to be the most beneficial info

Perhaps I should practice as I've made enjoying hummus more of a habit. Or mayb

From personal experience, not consuming enough of the right kind of fats caused me to become very "dry." A low fat diet caused dry, flaky skin on my hands, face, and less lubrication of my joints which became evident as I have experienced joint pain, including bursitis of the hips. We've all heard about fats, the good, the bad, the why. In fact, in the Cooking Light magazine (my
