Thanks Sproutarian Man. At this stage, I am thinking I will contact the caterer and offer to provide my meal. I'm with you; I could do without the social eating scene. Not to be misunderstood, I do enjoy socializing but the whole food thing is such a nuisance. I know this - if everyone ate a raw cuisine, there would be much less talking because they would be busy chewing!

I checked out your website Naza and you certainly do not look as though you have ever had a weight problem! Kudos to you. That's a testament to the powers of raw.

No kidding Panchito. I did not know that. I suppose growing your own food is the best way to ensure that you know what's being done to it before you eat it. I've heard it said that more organic food is sold than grown. Undoubtedly there must be some unscrupulous retailers who would be willing to increase profits but slapping an organic tag onto their produce.

aprilster, have you ever had anyone tell you they can't eat raw because it takes too long to prepare? I've heard that several times and I also scratch my head trying to figure out what they're thinking.

Thanks Panchito! That sounds pretty good. I've bought some frozen fruit and I also freeze it in the fall. The work well for the three-minute smoothie. Twenty pounds of dates!! Wow!

Probably so, banana who. I've learned some things here though about what isn't raw that I thought was raw. Like raw cashews and raw agave nectar or raw cacao apparently. This is a learning journey.

Is frozen fruit from the grocery store actually raw or is it blanched before being frozen? Does anyone know?

fleur949, your English is VERY GOOD!! Since no one has mentioned this, I will ask - have you checked your blood pressure? Do you get dizzy when you change postural positions? Do you feel dizzy if you stand up too quickly? This is referred to as orthostatic hypotension. I have had this happen a time or two when transitioning to a raw food diet from a more standard regime. I've also discover

Thanks everyone. In listening to your thoughts, I think I need to contact the caterer and make arrangements in advance. I'd better get to it. Typically, I always eat before I go out and as you say La Veronique, it's about the socializing, not the food. Actually my friends are very accommodating and try unusually hard to make sure I have enough to eat. They are more worried about it than

The other day, I wrote down reasons why I am raw - here are thirty. 1 - Highest quality of food - I get so much more for my money. 2 - It looks good. 3 - No indigestion. 4 - No body odour. 5 - Never have any nasal congestion. 6 - Natural weight control. 7 - Rich in nutrients - lots of enzymes. 8 - High water content. 9 - It's alive! 10 - Increased energy.

I have a bit of a problem - I am to attend two wedding receptions this summer and I'm not sure what to do. I have been exclusively raw for more than two years. In my heart of hearts, I would be contented to stay away but that wouldn't work well for my wife (she isn't raw). Some people have suggested to me that I just eat the cooked food and get back to raw on the next meal but I'm not prepare

Mislu, it's interesting that you bring up the word "refined" because I was recently thinking that it should be applied to a raw food diet. In other words, a finer diet. NGU, OMG! I guess you never know.

I was once telling this friend about the detriments of refined sugar. She was taking it in and was dutifully impressed as she continued to pour white sugar all over her cereal. There was a definite disconnect! I have never been able to fully understand why people can't implement what they know to be true but then again, I too have had some issues getting back onto raw when I backslid and was e

Thanks flipperjam. That's curious. I haven't tried juicing potatoes but I will tell a friend in Montreal who recently emailed me saying he is crippling with arthritis. Thanks Tamukha for your bravery! Everyone around me is ill right now. In fact, even as I write this, my wife has come home from work and is in bed. So far, I'm still kicking but maybe I need to try your elixir of potato juice.

After this, I am not going to comment further to John's postings on this thread though I did want to point out to you John that in listening to Defense Against the Psychopath, I found it uncanny how much of it I was able to apply to your presentations here, e.g. health nut, talking about themselves/narcissism, believing they have knowledge the rest of the world needs to know, bullying, fingering

Thanks John for reading and answering my post. I thoroughly enjoyed Stefan Verstappen's video Defense Against The Psychopath with it's amusing cast of characters. It was an intriguing watch but would be of special interest to anyone who subscribes to conspiracy theories of which I am not - and maybe I am wrong. Moving along... I once read an interview in David Klein's Living Nutrition, wit

If I may, I'd like to interject on the topic of hepatitis for the purpose of clarification. The term "hepatitis" is used quite loosely when one considers there are seven strains of this viral infection and though all of these viruses affect the liver, they are transmitted in somewhat different ways. When John Rose says hepatitis is not contagious, he is likely referring to the two c

Thanks Tamukha for your clear explanation on how to wash foods. This is something I need to be more attentive to and I will definitely follow your advice. Food grade Hydrogen Peroxide - where do you find it, a health food store?

Yes! $42. $6 a pound. I bought it in Toronto. It could have been gotten frozen for $2/lb. but it isn't nearly as good and it actually was for someone who was visiting me from southeast Asia. They ate some (no one else wanted more than a taste). My guest continued on their journey and so I ate the rest. It was a strange experience because I have not liked durian in the past. The first tim

Thanks for the link RawPracticalist. Maybe I should give it more consideration. I listened to a doctor of nutrition the other day who said the protein issue is overstated, that amino acids stay in the body for several days and, in general, adequate intake of protein is not the great concern it is made out to be.

Well, given the availability of amino acids in potatoes, I'll employ a little deductive thinking, aka logic, and surmise that those amino acids are likely present in the juice. Beneficial or not, I think I'll likely opt out!

Well that's an interesting twist to making almond milk (and maybe that's a bit of a pun if you use cheesecloth) but if you do try doing that, I'd be interested to know how it works out.

I guess this has nothing to do with nut milks - something I have never made but I just finished making some almond butter with my food processor using the S blade. It took about 15 minutes and I am assured of all nutrients being relatively present though I did notice that I need to shut the processor off because the friction causes an increase in temperature - not sure if it exceeds the 118 F. li

Thanks Tamukha. I have a question or two: What is the best way to wash produce before eating it? I have scrubbed root veggies with nylon pads though I'm not sure it's the best way or thing to do, and of course, I've peeled them. I've also just eaten them as is. Is soap and water good enough? WanderRA, logic tells me I can live without raw potatoes! I have never eaten raw oats with raisins or a

Does anyone eat raw potatoes? I tried them once many years ago but I didn't care for them. Since then, I have met people who aren't rawfooders but who tell me they eat raw potatoes so I tried it again. Again, I didn't care for it. Maybe there is a way; I don't know. What I do know is that the chairman of the biochemnistry department where I went to school told me that potatoes are a good so
