My teen-aged kids eat every kind of diet, depending on their mood, haha!! I learned something last year - the school banned all "junk" food dispensers, candy bar machines and whatnot, and replaced them with healthier options, but the kids aren't stupid, they just go across the street to the fast food place for the junk. So my strategy has been to not be too stringent and it seems

I know I have talked about this before, but this is just one of the most shocking revelations I have come across in a long time. As a cancer survivor, I am horrified that none of this was told to me EVER! If you have time, (it's pretty long), please try to take the time to watch the following video: . If you don't have time, here's my short recap of the information: Information from Lectur

Hi! I haven't heard of this before, but why not see for yourself? Seems logical to me, I think that raw tends to normalize your hormonal stuff, which is possibly implicated, and I have read in other posts that people found themselves much more tolerant of the sun in general, so this might bode well for you also. Even if raw doesn't help with this in particular, I bet you will find all so

A woman I don't know very well in my neighborhood had gastic bypass surgury a few months ago. Other than her weight, she looked like an attractive, fairly young woman. When I heard about her surgery, I wondered how things would have worked out for her if she had tried the raw foods route. I don't know her well enough to know exactly what is going on, but I saw her recently at the grocery sto

I ran into a woman the other day that I hadn't seen in years. Her two kids used to be in my daycare, and I remember them well, because they were the pickiest eaters I have ever seen in my life! This lady thanked me for teaching her kids to eat raw veggies, and to this day, her son is totally addicted to raw broccoli and cauliflower. I asked her what I had done - I didn't even remember, and s

Here's two "tricks" I play on my kids to get them to eat more fruits and veggies without even realizing it. Trick 1: I always keep bowls of fresh fruit scattered around the kitchen. The kids will sit around the table and nibble on a bowl of sweet grapes or right now, mandarin oranges, without even thinking about it. (or raw nuts) I rarely hear anyone around here complaining that t

Thanks Mislu! Disturbing, wasn't it? When he got to the part where he showed how easily they were able to grow cancer tumors simply by using milk protein, and how easily they were able to shrink them simply by reducing or eliminating it, I got chills. How awful it must be to know that they essentially caused all those liver cancers in the kids in the Philippines, even if there was no way t

I was watching a video of T. Colin Campbell and he talks quite a bit about his surprising discoveries about protein, and the impact it has on liver cancer - the results were really quite shocking. It's unbelievable that this has not become common knowledge:

I saw a GREAT news story the other day. In the older area of the city I live in, there are a lot of properties with mature fruit trees in their yards. One day, somebody observed that a lot of these fruits never got picked or used, sometimes because the people in those homes were elderly, or busy, or for whatever reason. So they formed a group. Now anyone in our town who has fruit trees th

That is a wonderful and inspiring story. I wonder if the author of the book will follow suit and donate some of his proceeds to good works.

Regardless of the reason, it sounds to me like your body is telling you to rest. In my opinion, that would be very significant - best to do so if you can. Whether it is detoxing or the flu, you will probably start to feel better in a few days, and if you spend your resting time thinking about it, you will probably be able to decide if stress is a problem for you. Not all stress is bad, but i

Thanks for the ideas. I have heard the one about the "belly button" (didn't call it that, but how perfect!). I do that usually, and sometimes it works, although I have also had good ones that didn't pass the belly button test. I've also tried selecting fruits that are heavy for their size, and find that works pretty well, except that the over-ripe ones feel heavy as well. One pe

Just checked the Canadian Blood Services website - on the application form to donate one of the questions is whether there has ever been any history of cancer. Probably different here. Just as well, my veins are really messed up from all the treatments - they have a really difficult time even getting my yearly blood tests out of me.

frances - Thank you for that information, I had no idea. It still would make me a little nervous. When I was diagnosed, they found that it had started to spread (there was quite a bit spread into my lymph nodes already), and put me at high risk for recurrence or metastasis. Although I go back and get checked every year (it's been five years now), and they don't find anything, there is no w

Oh dear Jodi, I really feel for you. I had shingles years ago when my kids were little, and it was SOOOO painful! I can't even remember what I did to make it go away, I think I might have used a type of skin cream with capsicam (?) or something like that - something derived from hot peppers - someone else might know what this is, I really can't remember. Or I might be totally confused and thin

What a wonderful suggestion! As a cancer survivor, I don't know if I am eligible to donate blood, but I do a lot of volunteer work in my community to raise awareness about cancer issues and prevention. If we each did just one thing, you never know what we could accomplish!

Hi everyone: I'm looking for some advice - the cantaloupes are so perfectly delicious right now, it's wonderful when I find a good one, but I don't know how to best select the right one. One day, I'll get the most perfect one, but the next day I pick one that will be disappointing and tasteless - does anyone know a foolproof method of predicting a good perfectly ripe cantaloupe? The ones

I live in BC Canada, same as Jodi, different city (one of these days, we have to meet!). One thing that happened at the school last year, was that they did a presentation of a couple of young people who had been involved in horrific accidents, who now go around talking to the high school kids. One girl had been given a gorgeous new sports car for her graduation, and one weekend, she decided t

The rules for driving here are actually pretty great. First the kid has to take a written test, then they are allowed a "Learner" license for a year - during that time, they are only allowed to drive in the company of a licensed driver over the age of 25, so they won't be learning from their friends. They have to log 60 hours of supervised driving or more over that first year, and dur

At a family BBQ a while ago they were boiling up a bunch of fresh corn, so I asked if I could save a couple of cobs and just eat them fresh - they were so sweet and delicious, I couldn't believe anyone would want to cook it and spoil it. The entire family thought I had lost my mind, and nobody would even try it. I don't know how optimal corn is compared to anything else, but for the sheer tas
