"I think if you include 1-2 lbs of greens daily and a wide variety of fruits including many nonsweet fruits with a handful of nuts and seeds that will be ok, provided that you have reliable and adequate sources for B12 and D." Arugula - what do you use to get your vitamins B12 and D? Your daily foods look great! Sunrise

August 15 - Well, today was quite a challenge and I ended up eating cooked food (Chinese - a plate full) and drinking a 1/2 beer plus two glasses of wine. Ugh!!! I was/am feeling pretty sad today...I don't know exactly why and even though I wasn't hungry I decided to eat cooked food for comfort. I won't be hard on myself, but I need to figure out why I need to "fill" myself. I don't

Hi Enchantress: I am trying to gain health and to trim up as well. I am just starting raw food (day three, after prior attempts) so for me, I think it is a matter of stocking up the kitchen - then I will probably eat more. However, as things stand now, I feel pretty satisfied. Matter of fact, I am grazing all day. I was thinking about the small amounts a lot of raw fooders eat as well. In

Hi Everyone, I am recommitting today. A friend and I decided to urge one another on with our chosen lifestyles; mine will be raw, and hers will be decreased portions of the SAD with exercise 4x per week. I am not going to be following an exercise program, but will be walking more and I am sure generally more active with all of the energy I will have on raw! We took pictures of one another a

Hey earthangel - I fell off the wagon a couple of days ago - big time. I guess I just wanted instant gratification! And I admit I started to get a little concerned with protein (that is how I justified my huge fall). Could you tell me the benefits you have experienced on raw? Are you concerned about protein and other vitamins? Sunrise

Hi earthangel and pam, Thank you so much for the warm welcome! So far, I am feeling pretty good. I have been very tempted a few times last night and today but thankfully I didn't give in to my cravings. Last night we ended up going to a different restaurant then was originally planned. I was so tempted by all of the cooked food, and then I noticed on the Specials that they had chilled melon

Happy Friday Everyone, The day started off pretty well with a smoothie - a handul of frozen bananas, mango (half of which I ate while slicing it), water and agave nectar. It was super-refreshing. At work I like to sip on tea so I have had a couple cups and will likely have one more before the end of the work day. For lunch I had a green salad from a great veggie restaurant across the str

Hello Everyone, Please consider this my formal committment. I will follow a mainly raw lifestyle for three months to see how I feel, and based on the results, decide if I want to continue. I have decided that I will allow myself to drink plain tea, herbal, green or black, without cream or sugar. Besides that, everything that I eat will be raw (to my knowledge). The reason I want to drink t

Thanks everyone! I am going to go for it! Anaken...interesting point...I never though of it that way! I've speant three years reading about raw food and I worry about the time it takes to "prepare it" without actually doing anything about my curiosity! It's funny how we perceive our time! And now to the recipe thread.... Sunrise

Hi Everyone! I have been reading Living and Raw Foods on and off for over three years now.A huge part of me believes that living and raw foods are what we are truly meant to eat. I have been really hesitant to try though because it seems so time intensive...and I don't always want to be "obsessing" over food. So I have never really committed myself. And then I look at all of your
