This has been on my mind for quite some time now: Are raw vegans selfish? I am referring to the ones who are on a very tight budget and probably the only ones in their families having such a healthy lifestyle. And who deal with restricting calories on a restrictive budget. Like me. I have always loved fruits, both sweet and non sweet ones. Not so keen on leafy greens though. But I just

I find that I need no salt. I do not crave it and I do not need it. If I feel I want a salty taste, I just use tomatoes or dill (I would use celery stalks but I do not like their taste). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I guess it depends on one's body. All I know is that salt does me no good, I get swollen eyes and also I used to get swollen ankles from eating salty food. Most of my life I tried to get away from salty foods, I even took a very large break from salt like for more than 10 years, and then when I tried something salty again like olives I immediately got swollen eyes and ankles. I guess that

Panchito, thank you for bringing that up. In the past I used to eat black olives, mostly light/diet ones, but then I switched to green olives. I liked them a lot, they were my fav, but then I stopped eating them because of salt content (I would get puffy eyes) and because of lye-curing (which absolutely terrifies me). I have been craving green olives again these days, but now, after readi

You can reduce the amount of nuts in the recipe and replace some of the nuts with raw chopped cauliflower (in the food processor until a fine puree). If you use 50% nuts and 50% cauliflower you will still get a very creamy cheesy texture, but lower in fat. You can also make zucchini puree with little or no nuts and you will get another creamy sauce. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You can mix nut cheese with dill and then make bell peppers and tomatoes stuffed with nut dill cheese. Or you can mix nut cheese with raw cauliflower chopped in the food processor and it makes a sort of creamy cauliflower puree. Or you can mix nut cheese with red bell pepper and make a red pate. Or you can mix nut cheese with onion and lemon juice and make fake fish roe. Or you can mi

This is how I see things. The raw vegan lifestyle is more than just a diet, it goes beyond counting calories and nutrient ratios. The raw vegan lifestyle is about eating the fresh fruits and veggies that you love, that your body loves and that love you back. The raw vegan lifestyle is about eating fresh fruits and veggies while you are compassionate about the other beings, both animals

NorCal Courtney, this is my opinion too and just what I was going to say. It is so sad to see John Rose and Powerlifter fighting so much in almost every thread. I think that both of you should just end this fight and go your separate ways and follow the path that makes you happy with yourselves. Those who are ment to be raw vegan will do so because they feel best living this lifestyle. T
