I have decided to eat 99% organic fruits & veggies from now on. I spent the last hour or so researching pesticides, herbicides, and the US company Monsanto that produces so many of them and even makes genetically altered seeds that sprout plants that are resistant to their herbicides so farmers can spray away without killing their crops. And there is a lot of concern, not just in the health

It's a lovely spring day here and it's perfect weather for running! I'm feeling a little dizzy/weak today so I'm going to keep it short- just an easy 4-5 miler- and then I'm going to go sunbathe for a little while. I went grocery shopping today an found CHERRIES!!! I think these are my second favorite fruit, right behind mangoes. They were ridiculously expensive as most fruit is here in VT, b

Ah, finally the end of my work week! It was a busy one! I've still kept to high raw, yesterday I had a bit of a cooked splurge when I ate the mini round tortilla that came with my salad at lunch...but it's all good. Today was really good, the only non-raw food was a little hummus- -green smoothie w/ 2 bananas, frozen strawberries & mango, kale, water. 2 bananas w/ raw cacao powder. Ha

Today was pretty good: -Green smoothie (2.5 bananas, strawberries, lots of kale, maybe 1/4 c. unsweetened vanilla hemp milk and 1/2 c. water); other half banana w/ raw cacao powder; lara bar -one raw energy bite...was starving by 10:45 AM despite eating a larger breakfast -salad w/ mixed greens, cucumber, tomato, carrots, red onion & just a litle balsamic dressing; half a large sweet pot

Yay I finally went to the store and got some FOOD! My real day is pretty similar to what I posted except I didn't get home til around 1 PM and had to clean before lunch so I had 3 raw energy bites & a banana as a snack before I ate the green smoothie. I'm saving the mango for later. I ran 5 miles instead of 4 and just had some carrots w/ 2 T roasted red pepper dressing and an apple. Plann

Hi keepingfaith! Congrats on making the decision to follow the raw path. Don't get down on yourself for not being ready to jump into 100% raw immediately. A slow transition is usually best for your body & mind to prepare and adjust. And it's funny how eating raw is probably the most simple way to eat, but mentally it can be really difficult. This is my third time attempting to eat raw an

Thanks Sundancer! Yesterday my internet was down by the time I finally got home, so here's a re-cap. It was my sister's graduation day and I was also almost completely out of food, so it was a little non-conventional in terms of eating: -half a cup of grapes, an apple -3 bananas- 2 were dipped in raw cacao powder *took the dogs for a walk* -salad w/ spring mix greens, half a red pepper

Hi! I am still alive and kickin' and still eating high raw. I am just so busy! But I've still been eating mainly raw...however I feel I am ready to dedicate myself to raw foodism again and take it to the next level and aim to eat at least 90% raw every day with less fat than I've been eating. The weather is nicer, there's more fresh produce and I just don't really want any cooked processed an

Ooh, I've never tried the key lime pie flavor! I'll have to add that to my grocery list! I hope you like the cashew cookie flavor. I was really sick yesterday, my stomach was feeling awful and I was so tired. I actually tried to run, made it just over a mile, ran off the treadmill & into the bathroom & ended up puking! Yuck. I got back on the treadmill b/c I felt ok after that, bu

This is a great idea! My workout today was a 2 mile run to warm up, then hard upper body weights and 15 mins. core work. I planned on doing a bit more but have been lightheaded for the past few days (fighting off all the germs at work perhaps!). My job is also a workout :-) Food was quite a few bananas, some with raw cacao powder, a green smoothie, an apple, a mango, lots of strawberries,

Aww, thanks suncloud. It is really happy and fun 80% of the time b/c we are finding great homes for deserving animals. The other 20% of the time is very, very difficult. That said, today was another miserable day. A cat had to be euthanized this morning b/c we found out she had liver failure. She'd been one of the very vicious and terrified cats when she came in, and had become the absol

I am very depressed today. What happens is that sad stuff will happen at work, and to save myself from emotional pain I will totally block it out and become robot girl and not deal with it, then 2 weeks later it will all hit me and I'll cry all day long and end up getting sick and feeling awful. That is where I am today. I still haven't figured out how to deal with the unhappy things that inev

I don't blame you, suncloud- perfectly overripe spotty bananas are irresistible! They are my weakness, too. I admire you for having the strength to fast for a day regularly. I would love to incorporate one day of complete fasting per week, but I'm not sure how I could get through the day. I have an active/physically demanding job and also run and lift weights regularly. Are/were you able t

Hi elaa! I think it takes a while for everyone to feel confident eating raw and for it to come naturally. I am not there yet...in fact I was 100% raw for nearly half a year and then completely went back to cooked vegan foods for 9 months! But all of that taught me a lot about my body and what is best for me. This is a journey, and you have to do what feels right and be forgiving. If there's

Hi Jgunn & elaa :-) I am excited to bring Misty home again, probably this Wednesday or Thursday night, but I need to take her for a run first beforehand so she doesn't have tons of energy! I don't know whether or not I'll end up being the one to adopt her, but either way her time with me will hopefully help her adjust and feel more comfortable and safe in whatever home she does end up in!

Everything with Misty went great, I loved having her around! My cats didn't appreciate it (she got a little riled up when they ran and that scared them and made them run even more...I think Misty needs to burn off some energy next time before I bring her in the apartment!). The cats spent the time in my bedroom/hallway/closet while Misty got the kitchen/living area. I stayed with Misty til bed

Thanks, kwan! I love animals, too, and it's hard for animal people to live w/o them! Maybe in the future you'll be able to have animals. I'm leaving to pick Misty up in half an hour, so I figured I'd post now incase there's no time later. I went for a run outside today b/c I needed to de-stress about some things. It was 18 degrees up here in the mountains which is the warmest it's been in

Today's been pretty exciting, my parents agreed to letting me bring one of the dogs from work home to try to work with her on her stranger/strange place anxiety issues, so I get to bring her home for a couple overnights and then weekend visits! I live in my own apartment, but it's attached to my parents' house, so they would hear any barking and our family dogs would also have to adjust to havin

Wow. This thread is a great example of why I rarely post or read anything in this section of the forum. Is all of this negativity and egotism really necessary from bunch of raw foodists, who are supposed to be among the most peaceful, centered and open-minded people on the planet? Do what works for you. No one can tell you what's right for YOUR body, except you. You're the expert when it

Ugh I feel like crap today. I have no energy and I've had a bad headache for a couple hours. I'm also really bloated and I have no idea why! Detox perhaps? Sometimes I think I blame everything on that, lol. I felt ok most of the morning, but I noticed right when the alarm went off at 6 AM that I had less energy than I typically do eating 811. I was also so hungry by 11 AM that I was shaking

Whew, what a day. Work was one really long workout today! I call Sundays my "marathon days" b/c I clean every dog kennel, clean a couple cat rooms, and then spend the afternoon doing the usual running around letting dogs in/out, feeding, doing dishes/laundry, etc. Despite that I still worked out when I got home. I ran 2 easy miles to warm up, then lifted upper body weights and did s

Thanks Elaa! I'm looking forward to actually doing 811 for a whole week instead of just talking about it, I always start and then end up eating way too much fat after a few days! Yesterday ended up being about 11% fat b/c I didn't have the half avocado or salad, I had a stomachache and then had fruit later instead. I woke up feeling so much more energized and rested this morning. I've notic

Hi Elaa! Congrats on your new job! And yes, let's start 811 Monday! I've been transitioning back to less than 15% fat so by Monday I will be ready to rock (hopefully). We can still eat overt fats, just as long as the total calories from fat make up 10% or less of our diets, right? I'll post that question in your journal as well incase you don't see this! I do best eating some overt fat half
