Elaa your cat is adorable! He seems like a very curious and interactive little guy! How are you liking the Raw Divas detox program so far? I admire all those green smoothies- I never could get into them. How much spinach do you put in? Maybe I was trying to put in too much too soon, b/c the spinach or greens always overpowered the bananas! You're doing great! I hope yoga was fun and lo

Elaa, I know what you mean about it being impossible to do yoga with a cat around! It's definitely not as good as when I was taking classes...but the cats love to annoy me! As for the raw almond butter, I buy it...I forget the brand and I'm not in my apartment right now but I'll let you know tomorrow what brand it is. It's sooooo good. It's mildly sweet and heavier than most raw foods which i

Good morning! I love waking up after a day of eating mainly raw- I feel so energized, happy and excited for a new day. I don't feel that way unless I'm eating raw. I got up today, had a light breakfast and worked out. I ran 3 miles with some speed intervals, then cut the run short in favor of doing some yoga. I miss yoga and I'm going to try to make it more of a priority. It took the backse

Hi elaa, thanks for the encouragement! I am hoping to get back into yoga, I really loved it when I was taking classes but can no longer afford them. I am going to look into some good yoga DVD's though! It is difficult dealing with the tough situations at the shelter We don't euthanize animals for space or give them x number of days to get adopted- we only euthanize in extreme situations

Hello everyone. I'm "meow" and I posted regularly on this site while following a raw vegan diet for 6 months, then a break, then about 4-5 months, last summer through winter. I didn't fall off the raw wagon so much as I chose to focus on my running and running a marathon and felt I needed to choose between eating raw and running hard. I chose running hard and incorporated grains and

hi girls! no time to post today...just a quick update. yesterday was good, don't remember what i ate but there was definitely NO bread, haha. i'm still eating cooked hummus b/c i've been too busy/lazy to make raw hummus, but i'm fine with that. no workout yesterday- much needed rest day. today i had to go to court for a preliminary trial of the first attack suspect, but his lawyer asked to

Soraya, your allergies sound awful I hope you get things cleared up soon. And it's actually strangely comforting to know I'm not the only one who battled the bread demons! I'm glad we are both moving on now. Good day today- yoga was really challenging and I loved it! I'm so sore though (from the longer run yesterday and now from yoga) and I think tomorrow will have to be a rest day. I'm

Amy- I'm the opposite of you, I LOVE how I can feel my metabolism working & my body repairing itself after a long, challenging workout! That is pretty much the only time I'm totally ok with eating tons of food. My advice is to really just go with what your body is asking for. You definitely burned tons of calories, not to mention your body gets shocked by intense workouts and it needs extr

Also, Becky, great job on conquering the night eating! I know you've been working on that for a while, so it's really a big accomplishment & you should be proud! I'm glad you've figured out what works best for you :-) How did the appt. w/ the endocrinologist go?

Hello ladies! Woohoo it's the weekend! Chica, thank you so much for your post! Like I said earlier, I am so inspired when I see or hear about people who have been following this sort of lifestyle for years and it's paying off! I think you make a great point about what kind of an impact this will have on our future families/children- in the fast food world we live in, most kids don't even ha

Hey chicas. Becky, I wanted to comment earlier about your uncle- it’s so inspiring to me to see older people who have been living very healthy lifestyles and see how much better they look & feel than their peers! OK that sentence was horrible but you know what I mean! That’s so cool to have a family member to sort of guide you. My family thinks I’m crazy (but they respect me an

Hi Amy, we seem to be the only ones around lately! Ayutthaya sounds so interesting. I love exploring really old villages / cities, it's so cool to imagine what life was like so many centuries ago. I think you & I probably eat more fruit in a week than most Americans eat in a year! It is soooo good this time of year Also, that's great that your bf is coming to visit! April will be here

hi girls! where is everyone? i had a crazy day yesterday- was in tears at work, we were so insane and i felt so underappreciated. anyway yesterday ended up being my "cheat" day b/c i had too much to drink the night before (2 drinks...which is my limit) and thought bread might help soak up the alcohol. so yesterday i ate A TON of food: -smoothie w/ 2 bananas, strawberries, mango,

Everyone seems to be really busy lately! Amy, Japanese food sounds good right now…maybe I’m just really hungry, lol. I am going crazy at work today! haven’t had a spare second until now. I seriously wolfed down lunch, and just got to eat a snack now at 5:15…I need more food than that! LOL. I’m going to be here late, too. Pre-w/o: banana w/o: 2.75 mile run w/ hard intervals

It'll be great to see your grandma I also agree w/ Amy about night time eating- If you're hungry, then there's nothing wrong with it (a calorie is a calorie whether it's 10 AM or 10 PM, right?) but if you just want to cut down on random snacking when you're not really hungry, t

Soraya, thanks for the info about the iron-rich foods! I'll have to get some pumpkin seeds. And I agree about soy being in everything! It's cheap so it's always used as a filler. Sometimes I think the whole soy craze is completely phoney- soy products cost next to nothing to make and yet they usually cost more than the alternative product! I don't know though, I think some people do well wit

Hola chicas. Soraya, don't you feel so good knowing you're nourishing your body that well? I look around at what most people eat and I'm so glad I crave apples & bananas and I've found a way to transcend the McDisgusting society we live in! Also, I don't mind the raw meat anymore, but at first it was hard. It took me literally 2 mos. of walking by the meat section until I was able to

Soraya, it sounds like your diet is awesome! Look at all those vitamins & minerals! Our bodies are amazing- craving exactly what we need! Great job on all that iron. If you don't mind me asking, what do you eat that contains the most iron? I have to take an iron supplement daily b/c I become anemic w/o it. Is it mostly the dark green leafy veggies that have lots of iron? Oh, and I also

IT'S THE WEEKEND!!! This week has been way too long! I am feeling so much better than I was just a few days ago. I think my body needed a couple days of 100% raw after the cooked food I ate in VT & last weekend. I will probably have a bagel w/ raw almond butter tomorrow, but I will enjoy it, not stress about it, and get back to 100% raw on Sunday Amy, I am in awe that you're going t

I am now trying to do cardio for 40-60 mins. 5 days a week, along wit

Becky, I know this is weird, but I never get bored with apples & bananas! Thank god, b/c most other fruit is way too expensive. I buy fresh-squeezed OJ and I'd buy frozen fruit for smoothies, but my mini-fridge's freezer is frozen

Hey girls :-) Soraya, I think it's good that you are aware of your food issues and you can catch yourself when you think your eating is "off" b/c of them. I'm glad that eating raw is becoming easier! It definitely shouldn't be something that adds stress to your life. Also, I LOVE sweet potatoes too. That's funny, I've been thinking of eating them for a while now! They are one of

Hi girls! Becky, don't worry about offending anyone! You are doing what you feel is best for your own body, how could that be offensive? I really think your plan will set you up for success! I would die w/o fruit and never understood why so many diets cut them out, but I guess the sugars can prohibit weight loss for some people? At any rate, your meal plan looks healthy and adding muscle m

Becky, your day sounds great! You have done so many interesting things in your life! And also, even though you're not eating 100% raw vegan anymore, I think you'll be able to take the things you've learned in the last few months and apply them to whatever diet you choose to follow next. About LA, it is very superficial here, but there's also a lot I love about it. The weather literally can'

Becky, definitely continue to post here! We wouldn't want to lose you, that's for sure. You have to do what works best for you. If you're craving protein, you need to give your body what it wants. Have you tried a normal vegan diet if you're worried about compromising your morals? That way you could still get plenty of protein (beans, tofu, seitan, tempeh, nut butters) but you wouldn't feel
