1) 2 months 2) 22 3) too early to tell 4) surprised...I didn't know there was such a "trait" as HSP. I've just always thought of myself as slightly on the autistic side. However, within the last year I have become more and more affected by loud noise, music, and general chaos and was wondering if this was my age (I just turned 47). I'd like to look into HSP more, now that you've

Can you give an idea of the amounts you use in your recipe of the main ingredients and then the amounts of the "additions" you use for different flavors???? I'm not experienced enough to create recipes on my own just yet. Do you dehydrate them or just refrigerate?

Dewey...glad you're back. I've missed you and wondered where you had gone to. Haven't heard about the book you've mentioned. Would love to hear any insights you gain. I'm glad you asked the question about detox as I've wondered the same thing. I'm not even sure I understand what happens when you have been eating raw and then eat something cooked..even something "good". Does this just s

I am very curious about this phenomenon as well. I have always had irregular periods of varying duration. This past month I had my first 28 day cycle ever and it only lasted 4 days.Ive been about 80% raw for 2 months now.

The ones I have are tart, but not really sour, and no seed. I soak them (I think about 1/3 cup is one serving) in water and then add them to my smoothies.

Hi Starglider, I am 47 and also a grad student with a demanding life. I'm 2 months raw and have been an overeater in the past, so we're in about the same boat. I used to exercise with my dog, but now she's too old. I have a friend that I walk with, but she's not real reliable ...like this morning...its time to walk out the door and she just called to cancel . Motivation is an interesting thing.

I water fasted for 7 days once for spiritual purposes. I was so weak I wasn't able to do much. I wasn't working at the time so I just vegged out on the couch. I lost about 10 lbs and when the fast was over, I gained more weight than I had lost. At the time I wasn't eating raw or even close to eating right, which I'm sure contributed to the weight gain. The last fast I did was the Master CLeanse.

gadjoemi...when I make flax seed crackers, I soak Ic of flax seeds in 1 cup of water overnight. Most of the water is absorbed. Put the whole mixture into the food processor with 1 clove of garlic, 1-2 TB of lemon juice, 1 TB of Braggs. Mix. It will be a goopy mix...a bit difficult to spread, but then I dehydrate it at 105 for about 8- 10 hours, flip and dehydrate another 8-10 hours to desired cri

Good Mood Cafe in Huntington Beach sells home made flax seed crackers. They are a little pricey, but very tastey and cruncy. I don't know how far Oceanside is from there, but she also sells via the internet.

Glad that's working for you. Yeah...it really surprised me to find out the info on what I was eating. It really helps me to be accountable and to make informed decisions based on the outcomes I want.

Gadjoemi...you can't sprout flax seeds, but you can soak them overnight if you're going to make them into a cracker or something. When they hit water, they release this gel-like stuff that makes them very gooey. I use a spice grinder / coffee bean grinder that I picked up at Wal-Mart (around $20 bucks) and grind the flax into powder. Then I sprinkle it on or in whatever. The thing about flax seed

Are you using fitday ( or something similar) to monitor your nutritional intake? According to much of what I've read, we really need much less protein than what we've been told or what we've become used to. Using fitday has really helped me because I can not only monitor my nutritional intake but I can make parallels between my weight gain/loss in relation to what I'm eating.

You can combine sweet fruits like bananas with semi-sweet fruits OR with acidic fruits but NOT BOTH. Sweet fruits also combine well with lettuce and celery. As a smoothie base I use 2 bananas, 2 cups of frozen spinach or kale and then whatever other sweet / or semi-sweet fruit I have on hand. I especially like nectarines or apricots. I haven't experimented much with smoothies myself, so I'm anxio

I am 47 and the allergy testing was done when I was 12. Whenever I eat oranges or tomatoes I will get usually one or two sores in my mouth. I am not mono eating these foods, nor do I have them frequently or in a large amount. But the result is consistent everytime. Occasionally, I also get this when eating strawberries, which I am supposedly allergic to, however, over the years I have been better

Welcome. The folks here are very helpful and will answer most questions you have. I am new myself...only raw for about 2 months now. However, I started with the Master Cleanse, before I knew anything about raw. It was through researching the MC that I found out about the raw food lifestyle and even the differences between vegetarian and vegan. I've learned a lot in 2 months. There is a lot of

Mariposa...another big difference I've noticed. If I'm eating 100% raw, I can fudge a little on the fats and still lose weight. But the minute I introduce cooked foods into my diet...even "good" ones, the pounds seem to stick, even with a really low fat %. For about 2 weeks I was "cheating" at dinner only, but keeping my % low 10-15% and the scale didn't move. For the last 4 d

I have made soy "mush" as a base for smoothies by soaking soy beans overnight and then blending. I don't see why you couldn't make this into a "milk" by just adding more water.

The only time I get canker sores in my mouth is when I eat oranges or tomatoes. As a child, I was diagnosed with allergies to both of them. Since going raw my overall allergies have improved and some have disappeared all together. However, I still get this symptom from time to time, just not as bad.

Katie, I went raw after having lost 40lbs on Weight Watchers. I still have another 40lbs to lose. My weight loss has been inconsistent. The first two weeks, I lost, but I was still on WW mentality. The next two weeks, I ate anything raw I could get my hands on (especially raw gourmet and lost of nuts & avocadoes) and I gained 4 lbs. Since then I have tried to monitor what I eat a bit more

Well, I made it through the weekend and hit Monday head on with new resolve to be 100%. My love affair with cooked food is over. What I ate over the weekend just has lost its appeal! However I'm not sure I can do 80/10/10, although I am attempting to keep my fat low. I'm tired of stressing about it. Maybe I'll start a new thread...70 / 20 / 10?????????? LOL!

297. Lara Bars
I just found out about larabars (I guess I'm a little slow) and was wondering what people thought about them. Obviously a "bar" is not a whole food, but the ingredients are whole, no preservatives and unprocessed. Just wondering what opinions are out there.

Dewey...I'm also curious how you determine the calories you need per day. I had read (somewhere?) that you need 10x your weight just for basic maintanence. Then if you wanted to lose/gain weight, you would adjust accordingly. I read through Dr. Graham's book rather quickly, but I don't recall him addressing specific caloric intake, just the 80/10/10 regardless of how many calories you take in. I'

Betty...thank you for your words of encouragement and inspiration. Everything you said really makes sense. I do believe that my 20% is what is stalling my efforts at weight loss. Part of me has really wanted to be 100% but the other part of me didn't want to set myself up for failure or a standard that was unrealistic. However, I am seeing so many positive changes with the 80%, it makes me want t
