I can't really afford another cook book right now...just wondering if anyone had a recipe they were willing to share. I have several...none of which I like.

I don't know how old you are. I had my tubes tied when I was 24. I had health issues and didn't want anymore kids. Then years later, my health improved as did my emotional situation and I mourned the loss of my fertility, wishing I had never made the situation permanent. I only have one biological child and deeply wanted more. I guess all I'm saying is that things change...so be careful about tak

Day 4 and I feel amazing. I wasn't even tempted at the movies yesterday, even with the smell of popcorn. I ate a banana with almond butter and a Lara Bar before I left and I was so full I didn't even want the snacks I had brought in my purse. This morning I was down 1 lb. It continues to amaze me that I can lose weight when I feel full and satisfied. Breaking free of the obsession with food and t

Does anyone have a good corn chip / tortilla recipe? I can't seem to get the texture or taste right or even comparable to regular tortilla chips. Thanks.

I've NEVER been skinny...and long for the day when I have lost all of my extra weight. It's coming off so I am encouraged. Today after church my husband and I were walking, holding hands, and this man said to him..."Hey, what are you doing with your daughter?" That man is now on my Christmas list!

Maybe the next time you're craving french toast, you can try these pancakes (from Bryan Au's "raw in Ten Minutes"... 1 cup golden flax seeds ground into powder (I use a spice/coffee grinder) 4 TB olive oil 2 TB water Mix all ingredients together. Use a fork and make sure to press down and mix very well until all the flax is coated and the whole mix is really togetehr. Split the mix

I like your determination Prism. Its funny...because at my house, my daughter and husband still eat SAD...but that's become pretty much only now when we go out. Because I'm doing the shopping and I don't feel selfish at all buying wholesome and healthy foods for them. If they're hungry, they'll eat what's here...and they do! My husband has started asking for my raw desserts. Ultimately its their

Congratualtions and welcome to the journal. How long were you 80% before deciding to try 100%? I was about 80% for 2 months, with some 100% days, but not consistent. Actually, 6 days 100% raw was my longest success. But I'm pretty dedicated this time around and I'm on day 3. I"ll join you with a 30 day goal...day by day...one step at a time.

Most "bars" have a base of figs or dates...then you can add whatever fillers and extras for flavor.

Pampam, it doesn't seem like you're eating very much when you read it. Did you feel full and satisfied? I am so amazed at how filling whole foods can be, compared to what I used to eat. Even with that little bit of nuts and the avocado, I think you are doing great. As long as you feel good and are steadily losing the weight you want, I wouldn't worry about it. Sorry your tooth huts. I would like

I know the psychological aspect is strong. In July, I was eating only fruit...enjoying the fruit, but getting bored with it and feeling somewhat deprived. I think because the fruit digests from the system in about 20 minutes, I was ALWAYS hungry. I felt like all I ever thought about was food and being hungry and Iw as eating fruit all day long. I was trying to do the 811 thing, carefully measurin

I have food allergies and there are certain foods I could "tolerate" when processed. But when I am eating them raw, they have a much stronger effect and I have to stay away from them. Food allergies usually kick in within 30 minutes or so of eating something. So if you just eat one food at a time, you should be able to isolate a reaction. So maybe for a few days, don't combine any fruit

Thanks Suncloud for the confirmation. I'm amazed at how eating a little (good) fat keeps me full and satisfied. I'm believing that I have finally found the nitch to making this way of life do-able, enjoyable and succcessful.

I am also "assuming" that the properties are different...but my family gives me a hard time whenever I use hemp. I've got herbs growing on the porch and they get the same reactions...

Hi Inaia...yeah, I know I need to start incorporating some weight training along with my cardio. I'm just lazy. I did surprise myself this week though by doing some push-ups and I'm trying to do them everyday now. Previously I could only do the girl-on my knees-type pushups...but now I can do the "real" ones on my toes. The first day I could only do 5, but I was really encouraged. I do

It's 100% raw day 2 for me and I'm pumped. I had a totally awesome day yesterday because I ate when I was hungry, ate what I wanted and felt full and satisfied...and I lost .8 lbs. I was a little concerned because I know I ate more fat (vaocado & nuts) that what I was previously eating... and I usually average between .4 and .6 a day so that was great. I know now that I can do 100% raw as lon

Just a thought...I read that when you are eating whole foods, your body knows exactly what it is, recognizes it, and easily digests it. But when you eat cooked / processed foods, it doesn't recognize it and literally attacks it as though it were a virus or some foreign object. This sends all your bodily functions into attack mode and eventual overload. Maybe that is why we feel at peace with more

Rosemary, I'm glad you asked that question. I was wondering the same thing. I make flax seed crackers that help some when I'm craving bread. I just tried soaking some organic basmati rice to see if it would soften. I love the smell of it and the flavor. I'm thinking I will try it mixed in with a salad for flavor and crunch.

Prism...I also have to cook for my family. I either make sure I eat something satisfying and filling BEFORE I have to cook so I'm not so hungry and tempted or I have something on the counter like grapes that I nibble on while I'm cooking.

The carrot cake is an Alissa Cohen recipe. It was the first book I got when I started raw because I didn't know much about raw foods and the recipes sounded like cooked. I'll post the recipe below. My hubby who eats SAD, really loved it and so did a girlfriend I shared it with. In fact, she asked for an extra slice to take to her office to share with a group there. As for the walking, when I star

I"m with you guys...I just say I'm eating healthy. If I mention "raw" for some reason, people think you have joined a cult! The other day I made a raw carrot cake and shared it with a girlfriend who accepts and understands my raw diet. She asked for a big slice to take to her office to share with the people she works with. People are just surprised when you can make something good

That is so awesome Betty. Yeah...I was thinking, it would be pretty easy to eat whole foods in Costa Rica...since that's what the people there are eating, minus the tortillas. Dewey...you are so...should I saw...RAW? Yes...I was going back further than 20 years too...but then, they say you're as young as you feel and since I still have acne, I can't be THAT old! I recently had to take the GRE tes
