Thanks for the info everyone! I think I will just stick with the Vitamix and thicker, fibrous smoothies!

What are the main differences between juicing and mixing in a Vita Mix? I know that juicing leaves less fiber in the end product. Are there other differences? My fiancee will not use a juicer b/c he says its important to get the fiber. To me, the juice tastes much better without the "foamy" fiber texture. Your insights would be appreciated!

I gave my fiancee some of the rescue remedy (via a couple drops on the tongue) but didn't tell him what to expect. He said he noticed a slight effect almost immediately. Of course, he knew he was getting something! "On an emotional level, I think they are very appealing. Who wouldn't rather take a flower than a pill from big bad pharma?" Yes, Arugula, it is much better than tak

I use MJ before I meditate or go to yin yoga classes. For whatever reason, it seems to help me focus more on my practice and center more easily. Just my experience!

Thanks for all the input. I went ahead and bought 2 vials (hornbeam and gentian) and I have been putting them in my water for the past 2 days. So far, I do feel like I can feel the effect...I seem to have more energy and I feel very talkative. Perhaps its the placebo effect. My fiancee has volunteered to be my experimental guinea pig. I haven't told him what they are supposed to do. The re

Has anyone heard anything about Bach's Flower Essence Remedies? The company claims they can assist with a varietly of ailments. I recently stopped taking Wellbutrin SR cold turkey and I'm looking for something natural to help out while my brain re-adjusts. I have some fish oil omega-3 supplements, but I haven't been taking them. I'm also considering some St. John's Wort. Anyone have a

Raw1228, BTW, I started the raw lifestyle/Wellbutrin to assist in overcoming my alcoholism and to start "fixing" the underlying causes that drove me to that in the first place. I'm not sure what your situation is (haven't been following the posts; just the last few from today) but if you need a friend to talk to you can always email me.

I'm raw and I take Wellbutrin SR. I started the meds at the same time I became a raw foodist. I took my time transitioning away from cooked food. The only thing I've found is the raw diet seems to make the medicine feel a bit stronger. BUT, keep in mind, I started both at the same time.

Any thoughts on the raw revolution bars? I know a lot of people don't endorse Organic Raw Bars or Lara bars. I tried the Raw Revolution Spirulina and Cashew today, and it seemed good. I even felt energized shortly after eating it. The ingredients look pretty good too- cashews, dates, agave nectar, almonds, sporulina, sprouted flax seed (all organic). Just wondering what the general consens

Handling the negative responses from others can be very difficult and alienating. Recently, however, I received an email from a friend (who had previously given me grief) who converted to the raw lifestyle. Her husband is also converting with her. Whenever others' negative responses start to weigh down on me, I remember how I felt when I read that email. If my example can help others (ev

I get my beets at the local farmers market. Thanks for the input! I didn't have any beets this morning and I feel like I'm lacking in energy. Beets = my coffee!

A quick question about beets... Are they super cleansing? Or super packed with sugar? I ask because I have included them in my morning smoothie for the last few days and I noticed some odd effects: The first day, I became nauseous and almost got sick. The second day, my boyfriend became nauseous and did get sick. After my smoothie today, I had sooo much energy! I have felt supercharged a

Is it difficult to stay hydrated when going for 16 hours without drinking any water? I guess 8 of those hours would be while sleeping, but still...I think I get dehydrated really easily. If I go for more than 45 minutes without water, my breath becomes really horrible and my mouth gets uncomforably dry.

Hey Life101, Luckily, I do not eat pork...and didn't even before I became raw. I would like to check out that book though. My joints have always felt more stiff in the winter. I hope I don't have parasites (Well, I'm sure I have SOME, just not enough to cause myself problems).

I recently learned that the B-12 in "superfoods" is likely the analog (as you say rost0037). It was very disheartening. I've been drinking Odwalla Vanilla Almondo protein drinks b/c its says it has 100 % of B12. I tried reading the ingredients to figure out where the B12 was coming from and all it said was B12. Here the list of ingredients: Organic Soymilk (Water and Organic Soybe

Has anyone here seen the short movie "Six Degrees Could Change the Earth"? I recently saw it on the History channel and it scared the crap out of me! Basically, it predicts what will happen to our planet as global warming continues to run its course. If we raise the global average climate by much more than 3 degrees, we will barely be able to survive as a species (or won't be able to su

Hey everyone, I've been raw for 3 months now (yea!). I recently have noticed that my joints seem to be popping more and feel a little stiff...no pain, just a tightness. Am I missing something in my diet that would cause this effect? Thanks!

SP, glad you bought it and love it too. It's a good thing cause a pound is going to last you a while! In a strange way, I kind of like the oily look. It reminds me of my young days (before 4 years of Accutane destroyed my skins' ability to produce much oil).

Me too! The really sad thing is that some of the women are continuing to use the product, despite the FDA recall and the horrifying pics. They post links where you can obtain the product from other countries (those weird pharmacy sites). They defend the product by saying, "Well, it hasn't happened to me yet" or "The product I use is made by a different company, so it must be sa

I was horrified today when I learned that a certain cosmetic used to promote eyelash growth (I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post product names...so I won't) was recalled by the FDA. I found out about the product on a make-up review forum where individuals who used it were raving about their results. More and more women on the forum ordered it and started using it. They posted before and after pic

My boyfriend is the one who introduced me to the Raw lifestyle (even though he wasn't raw at the time). At first, I thought it was weird, but I respected his choices. He tried to get me to drink "green drinks" with him in the mornings, but I usually refused. One day, while looking for something to read in the bathroom, I grabbed his raw book by Brenda Cobb. I started raw the very next d

I said I would post of I found any products that helped me with my dry skin problem...I recently found the answer I was looking for! I picked up some Pure Shea Butter from my local co-op and I've been using it for 4 days. I am addicted to it! My skin looks amazing. The small fine lines I had around my eyes are gone! My face has a healthy glow to it...It works so much better than coconut oil.

Wow Brenna, Your husband's hair is thicker now? That's awesome. I should get my man on that immediately! LOL. This may sound odd, but I think the raw diet has affected my hair growth. I seem to have more "stray" hairs in places that I prefer to not have hair! BUT, if my hair is growing thicker and healthier, I'll deal with the tweezing.
