Personally, I have a few Cutco knives, and am happy with them. I also have a cheap $10 cleaver I bought for opening my coconuts and it works pretty good at cracking those things open. However, my brother (a professional chef) is a big fan of Mac Knives, and some other outrageously expensive Japanese knives. I just can't justify the cost which can exceed $200/knife, but it makes using even

I was at the store yesterday and they had watermelon on sale. I love watermelon, so I got myself one. However, when I got it home, it was too ripe and tasted awful. I was wondering how to tell when one is good? I've heard you're supposed to knock on them and if they sound hollow, they're good, but that doesn't seem to be working as the last two I've purchased weren't that great. Any

I've never heard of them - what kind of fruit are they? Can you compare them to anything?

They're ebooks. Isn't that the beauty of them, you can order them and download them from any corner of the earth where you have an internet connection. Unless I misread something I don't think you'll have any problem getting them in England. Gary

The article even says that they're not based on anything scientific. I'm not denying that eating 100% raw is better than eating cooked, but I just can't accept those numbers as being accurate just because she says so - which is basically what that article is - her opinion. Gary

I got a bag of raw peanuts and they were okay. They didn't taste like peanuts to me though, more like peas. If they were cheap, I'd probably buy them again, but they're pretty expensive so I won't be getting them again any time soon as I think there are a lot better things I can get for my money. Gary

Where do you folks order your dates from? The only ones I can find here in Nebraska are the Dole Pitted dates and I'm guessing that's not exactly ideal. Thanks, Gary

la_veronique I put the wheatgrass juice in my smoothies. When I first started putting wheatgrass juice in my smoothies, it made the taste unappealing to me. Then I learned the trick to just stick a lemon in the smoothie - problem solved. That's been my solution since I haven't acquired a taste for wheatgrass yet. Gary

I came to the same conclusion as you. I don't care for wheatgrass juice. It doesn't even smell good. However, since I spent the money to get all the stuff to grow it, I've found it works really well in green smoothies. I juice it, then put the juice in my morning smoothie - add a lemon (this is the key) and you won't even notice it in there. Gary

I'm still in the transition stage, but I find that I use mine quite a bit. I think it helps especially when I really want something warm. I have to admit that even before I went mostly raw, the dehydrator was great because I didn't have space for it and my microwave. So it was easy choice, good bye microwave. I never missed the microwave, but I have to admit it was funny when frien

For me I have noticed how much faster alcohol hits me than it did on my SAD. Last time I had a beer I felt like I was nearly drunk after just one. Normally it'd take at least 3 to get that feeling. However, I haven't given it up simply because for me it's a social thing. When I'm hanging out with my friends, I enjoy having a beer with them. Gary

Anybody know when these things are in season and where they can be found when in season? I live in the U.S. and I want to try one to see what it's like. Gary

Raw cacao beans and nibs both have a ton of iron. I just checked my bag of cacao nibs - one serving (1 oz) has 314% of your daily requirement for iron. So if you're looking for a lot of iron in your raw lifestyle, that's a good place to get it. Gary

I really like them as a topping on raw chocolate ice cream although I found that they don't work as well as powder for making the ice cream itself. I tried eating them plain and they were a bit too bitter for me. Gary

I just got a bag of Jungle Peanuts yesterday and they didn't taste anything like your typical dry roasted peanuts. They actually reminded me of eating snow peas (they're both legumes so that makes sense I guess). That was the cloest thing I found to compare them to. Gary
