The driving force behind a juicer is the motor. Small low powered motors are cheaper than high power motors. Electrical power is measured in Watts. A 300 Watt juicer will be cheaper than a 1000 Watt juicer. If you plan on only a little juicing a low powered juicer may be all you need. If you plan on heavy juicing a larger motor will last longer and get more juice out of you produce so

The Juice fountain is well made. Buy the one with the best motor if you can afford it. The price is all about the wattage of the motor the more watts the more you pay and the longer the motor will last. Other than the motor the juice fountains are pretty much the same. One other point is that the plastic will stain on the lower end models if this bothers you get the all stainless steel mod

I agree with J.J. juicing fruit is a waste. The odd glass of apple juice won't break your account but every day will be costly. Blending fruit is a much better idea. For veg juicing the greenstar is good including leafy greens and wheatgrass. It is slower than centrifugal juicers but you get more juice and will save you money in the long run. The Greenstar is bad at juicing fruit as it gets cl

Jono I have been blending Avo seeds for about two or three years. I haven't tried Mango seeds or durian yet. I tried peach seeds but they were very very hard and although the blender did a lot of dammage to them they remained pretty much intact. Also the bits the blender did knock off stayed like bits of wood in the smoothie. I have blended papaya seeds they are kind of peppery. I r

Yes!! I always blend the avocado seed in my smoothies. Its supposed to be very good for you like most seeds. I always blend the seeds along with the fruit in my power blender when I make smoothies. I have about three avocado seeds a week. As for the taste I don't really know as it just disappears into the smoothie. So its kinda tasteless.

Hi Rosemary You seem to have learned some hard lessons. You need registered mail or else its your word against theirs. The mail service employees also regularly loose or steal stuff. I know someone who sent a few hundred dollars in the mail and you can guess what happened!!!! The usual routine if a parcel looks tempting is to stach it or bring it home. If they like the contents they ke

Hi JJ & WY I am giving an estimate that the Greenstar gives about 30% more juice than the Breville 1000 Watt juicer as I notice I am using a lot more carrots to get the same amount of juice. (I have no association with Greenstar just giving my best estimate) I mainly use my Greenstar because the output is much higher and I get better value for money. I will do a test next week after my

Hi WY Apples are generaly sold on dwarfing rootstocks so people with small gardens can grow them. The rootstocks go from very dwarfing for pots to half standards and standards for almost full size trees. Most people go for a few varieties on semi- dwarfing rootstocks rather than one large standard tree as apples need a pollinating partner. Apple trees can come on their own roots but th

I grow most of my own apples. There are over three thousand varieties but most you will never see for sale in a store or supermarket. I have several different varieties some of which date back several hundred years. These apples varieties were around before pesticides and chemical sprays so grow particularly well in an organic enviroment. Fruit is really very easy to grow and needs very li

Hi WY It depends on time Vs quantity and quality. I have the Greenstar and the High power Breville juicers. I have noticed with carrots and celery that the Greenstar gives quite a lot more juice as much as 30% or even more than the Breville. The pulp in the Breville is much wetter than the Greenstar. The Greenstar also claims to produce better quakity juice but I can't detect any differ

Hi Coober I have the Blendtec/Ktec blender and I love it. The Waring looks like a great blender too. It looks like it is a power blender from the description on their web site. There was very little other information like can it handle ice? There also was no picture of the blades. Fruit and veg smoothies are usually no problem to a blender but if you will be making nut butters and the

Hi Sage10 Your situation is a complex one as it involves a medical condition very few people on this forum will know anything about. My advice is to discuss the implications of juicing with your current medical practioner as they will have a knowledge of your medical history and current condition. Advice from people who do not have all the facts could be counter productive and even dangerou

Hi LikeItOrNot Since you are new to juicing take it slow on the green stuff. Carrot and apple should make up a large percentage of your juice. You don't make it clear if you are juicing or blending??? If juicing add a SMALL amount of greens to begin with Broccoli is a good choice as it can be hidden with little taste. If blending you will need to add some sort of liquid. I add gree

A friend asked me an interesting question regarding Hemp seeds which I was unable to answer but some of you may know. In his line of work there is random drug testing and he is afraid to eat Hemp seeds in case they give a false positive for canabis. He asked me if I would know if this were true or not?? I don't know. Anyone out there know? Galileo

There are always problems to be solved in the world and there always will be. I do everything I can on a daily basis to help. I compost recycle etc...and help people out when I can if they are in trouble. This does not stop me from being happy as I have more power that way. I knew a lady who was dying of cancer and had a week to live when I last saw her and she was one of the happiest peo

I agree with everything rawmark says. I have two juicers the Greenstar and the Breville. My partner will not drink veg juice which I love so I use the greenstar. She uses the Breville. The Greenstar is not good at fruit as it gets clogged even with the optional fruit screen. The Breville is great at fruit but not good with greens so we use both every day and avoid arguments!!!!

Well done getting started is the most important step. When I started I was having two fruit and veg smoothies a day. I felt good but my stomach got a bit upset the first week or two and I got a headache. This is normal detox symptoms, after a month or so I started juicing and had no problems. When your body adjusts you will feel great. I have no problems now no matter how many smoothies

I have the greenstar and a friend has the Breville 1000W. The Greenstar is much better at green leaves and the like which I juice a lot it also does hard veg really well. Its bad at fruit though even with the fruit accessaries. You can get away with some fruit as long as you follow it with some hard veg like carrots. If you don't the screen gets blocked and you need to dismantle it (A real ha

Nedsin I looked up Bill Pearls book "Getting Stronger" You have probably heard of him. He is a vegetarian bodybuilder who has won Mr Universe. He has also never taken steroids. In the section under bodyfat he says "It has been found that having too little bodyfat, less than 5% for men and 8% for women may cause health problems, some of which have been associated with muscular

Hi Nedsin Muscle needs a lot of calories just to maintain and even more to gain. How many calories do you eat a day? Have you calculated how much protein you are getting? I am not 100% raw as I don't let diet rule my life but I do eat a lot of raw food because it make me feel great. If your weights in the gym are going down and you have no energy something is wrong and needs changing as in

If you have been eating healthy all your life juicing will probably not make a big difference to your health. If you have eaten processed food, fast food or dairy etc juicing will help as it requires very little digestion and releases energy to help your body detox. Galileo

The goodness in whetgrass comes from the juice inside the cells. The cells are made from celulose which the human stomach cannot digest because its too tough but which some mammals such as cows can. To get the juice out of whetgrass you need to juice. The vitamix or other power blenders would need to smash the cells of the wheatgrass at a cellular level to get the juice out. I am not sure if

A power blender really makes a big difference. They are not indestructable so take a little care. A friend was making a smoothie in my K-TEC and broke a carrot in half and put it at the bottom. It just fit in the square base and jammed in the corner length way. When they turned the blender it went from zero into the carrot and jammed. I heard the motor straining and quickly turned it off. If

Peach seeds plum seeds and nectarine seeds do not blend in my HP3 they are really really tough. The blender knocks them about and they end up badly damaged but still intact. They didn't damage the blender but left chiped bits of seed in my smoothie. Avacado seeds believe it or not blend really well with no problems. In fact all other seeds (Except the ones listed) I have tried so far blend wel

Most of the energy a plant expends when making fruits goes into the seeds. It costs a fruit tree a lot of energy to make seeds. The sugary bit that covers the seed does not require a lot of energy for the tree to make. Fruit tree growers usually take off half or more of the fruits when the fruits are small before the seeds have started to form. This is called "thinning out" the frui
