Thanks Sharrah, Your response provides more food for thought. I agree, you play the hand you get. Raw/Live foods means you play a smarter hand.

Thanks Meditating, this is a thoughtful response to the question. I will certainly pass this along to my friend. I venture to say that if eating live foods automatically added 50 or more years to one's life, I bet thousands of people would become live foodists overnight. I believe that's just how American society would react. We would have 'live food mania' on our hands and everyone would

Hi Rawangel, I personally agree with your view. The question certainly caught me off guard, but I agreed to ask it. In my initial post, I explained that I was telling a friend about the benefits of a live food diet/lifestyle when I was asked the question. It came from the context of my friend saying, "Well, if it heals so many diseases, clears skin, etc., then live foodists must li

I was telling a friend about all the disease healing benefits of being on a live food diet...went through a whole conversation, only to have them ask me, "Well then, what do live foodists usually die from?" I said, "Car accidents." But it is an interesting question. Has anyone come across a study or article dealing with this issue? If so, please post here. Maybe I can

Hi, I'm 21 days raw as of today! I juice fasted the first seven days, then ate about 95% raw the next seven days, and today is the last day of my 2nd 7-day fast. I feel FANTASTIC. I'm losing weight, my face is clearing up, I sleep better, my mood is better....THIS IS GREAT!! I'm finding my way through tough social situations and I am so proud of my self. I have eaten grapes and water throu

Yes Greenie, I agree with you and Bryan, Taylor and RawSun. I have found that taking a hot shower warms me up and drinking warm tea helps as well. I doubt its my throid and I am dropping weight as well. I'm not sure how much I weigh, but I'm getting into clothes I haven't worn in years and my regular clothes are pretty loose. In the meantime, I'll just close my eyes and dream that I'm o

Thanks to everyone for their replies so far. I feel better. I don't have a thyroid problem. I've been checked for that before due to some other issues. Maybe I should request that it be checked again. Also, maybe I should eat more bananas and add some raw nuts and dried fruit for some extra fat and calories.....? Anyone think this is a good idea? By the way, my boyfriend (SAD diet, wit

Hi, I hope someone can give me some insight. I've been at least 90% raw for 26 days (since new years) and now that it's gotten cold in NYC, I'm experiencing a drop in my body temperature and cold fingers and toes. My normal body temp has always been around 94/95 degrees and the doctors said that it was not unusual to be a few degrees under 98.6. However, lately, I seem to be warm about my

Hi All, FYI - Anyone who lives in NYC or NJ should check out . I have placed one order with them so far and am very happy. You can get organic produce, and other grocery items. Delivery is free with an order of $50 or more. I like that it's not like those other places that charge you by the box size and you have no real say as to what is in the box. Seajaee

Thanks No5, I will look into the products you mentioned. Benriner, Bron, and Cuisinart are all brands I have heard of. I am just so excited. This is my 6th day after my 7-day fast and I am at least 90% raw. It might be more as I've only been muching on Garden of Eatin Organic Yellow/Blue corn chips. I feel good, my skin/eyes are clearing and I'm losing weight. Thanks to all for you

Prism, Hi, I have a very close friend who is now hypothyroid after having iodine treatment for being hyperthyroid. Can you recommend any foods/herbs that might be helpful for the condition? My friend is not a live foodist, but doesn't have a 'bad' SAD diet (if such a thing exists).....lots of fruit and veggies, but will eat chicken, turkey, and fish....also smokes.... Thanks because she h

Hey Frutarian One, I love your forum (haven't joined yet though) and I have been working out with resistance bands....what a difference I'm seeing in how strong I feel. The last time I went raw, in my third and last month before I fell off the diet, I swam 5 days/week for an hour. This time, I will be walking mostly. I had to give up my gym membership since their pool times didn't fit my

Hi All, Hopefully you can help me. I need some recommendations for some of your favorite, most useful kitchen gadgets for raw food preparation. I like to keep things simple, but I'm not 'lazy'. Making food look appetizing is also cool. I already have a citrus juicer, a Breville fruit and veggie juicer, a blender, and a spiral slicer. The spiral slicer is a cheap 'as seen on tv' model, a

Thanks Audrey, I was raw for three months about 5 years ago. Then winter came and I fell back into regular vegetarianism.....However, I have never felt as good as I did during those three months and I sincerely want to get back to that. On Friday, I finished a 7 day juice fast, and now I'm 98% raw (I ate a shred of cheddar) as of today - Day 1. I'm typically a 'simple' eater....fresh juic

Okay, I'm looking for good live/raw food preparation and technique books....in the process I keep seeing recipes that call for dehydrating food.....isn't this contrary to the point of eating live/raw food? Don't we want to eat good juicy fruits and veggies all the time and have nuts and things on the side? A little dried fruit here and there is nice for the natural sugar but isn't constant deh

Thanks everyone for your responses! I'm looking for some 'Cook'books that will help me learn to prepare foods....any recommendations? I don't mind preparing food, but I don't want to have to use 50 million contraptions just to make my meals....ya know! Thanks for the input. Seajaee

Hi, I'm not new to raw food and it's been an off and on struggle for me. However, I just finished a very successful 7-day juice fast and am determined to stay at least 90% raw. It's amazing what you can do when your mind is completely made up and you've decided to stop selling yourself short. Ok, so I've been looking at recipes and food ideas.....so many of them are quite complex and I'm

I was drinking soy milk and occassionally eat soy substitutes like the Morning Star and Boca brand products. Yesterday, when I ate a soy 'chicken patty' I got an upset stomach and headache. It has been a while since I had soy and I was surprised to experience the symptoms.

Hi, I'm finding that in my transition to raw/live food, soy makes my stomach upset and gives me a headache. Have any of you experienced that? I'm not 100% raw yet, but the more raw I get the less I can tolerate soy. I have no problem leaving it out of my diet.
