Hello, I'm attempting to make nut cheese using the recipe in Living Cuisine. The cashew, miso, and water mixture has been sitting in a cupboard that I thought I was warm for about 8 hours. It's not separating and it's not expanding very much, which Loux said it would. Does the whey necessarily need to separate from the curds before pressing to make the cheese edible? What am I doing wrong?

I didn't even really like the scenery. Especially not in the areas outside town. It's too dry for me - I like lush, green climates. That's good that you're getting a Whole Foods. I guess. The Co-op is decent, but in terms of raw foods and vegan foods, I think Whole Foods is better. I think the Co-op has more of a "gourmet" focus than an ethical-eating focus. Ugh. I just had such a

I don't even discuss my diet with doctors precisely because I hate being scolded. And you know what? They rarely ask about it, which tells you a lot right there. I went to see an endocrinologist for treatment of PCOS a little over a year ago. He told me to lose weight. I did. He never said a thing about it. He probably didn't even notice. The only time it's come up in the past two years (with

I just wanted to say that I know exactly which store you went to. I used to live in Boise. And you know what? I'm really glad I left (no offense.) It's flamingly obvious to me now that Boise really didn't want me there. And yeah, that's how Synergy tastes. I liken it to cheap wine. And this is probably a huge no-no, but I sometimes add a little liquid stevia to it to enhance the fruit flavo

OK, so I dropped 50 pounds on vegan whole foods, but have another 35 to go. I've been about 90-95% raw for 4 days and nothing has budged. Am I expecting too much too soon? It's just that the last time I went this raw, I did it for two days and dropped 3 pounds, so I kind of expected the same results this time. I read that on raw foods, you can eat as much as you want (within reason) and expect

I think beer is about 10 proof, yet I get the same buzz off 8 oz of kombucha that I'd have to drink 2 12-oz bottles of beer to get. That's wild that it would do that to me. I won't drive after drinking ko

Nothing. Nada. In fact, the laxative tea and SWF seemed to have the exact opposite effect they were supposed to. WTH?

This is the first day of my second cleanse. I checked my book and went over my actions carefully, and I'm pretty sure I prepared to SWF correctly (2 tsps celtic sea salt in 1 qt water.) For some reason, it doesn't taste anywhere near as salty as I remember it tasting. I hope this doesn't effect the results.

I admit to being a little warped, but I thought the swf was awesome. It really cleans you out. I just wish my toilet seat was more comfortable.

I'm still transitioning to raw, but following a whole foods diet with an emphasis on more raw than I was eating before rid me of rheumatoid arthritis pain. RA is different from osteoarthritis; it's an auto-immune disorder. The pain was so bad and I was so disabled I thought my life was over. But I did a detox, which significantly relieved the pain, then tested for foods that triggered it. After s

I'm so used to organic prices that when I was forced to buy some conventional spinach a while back I thought the price had rung up incorrectly. But yeah, sticking to bulk foods and simple ingredients really helps keep prices down.

I'm hesitant to believe that the media alone causes eating disorders. Yes, the presentation of a size zero woman as the only acceptable form of beauty can cause self-esteem issues, but actual, clinical anorexia, bulimia, or EDNOS? There's a lot more going on with those illnesses that just wanting to be thin and I think placing the blame on magazines and skinny models oversimplifies the issue far

I just want to point out that COD (compulsive overeating disorder) is an ED, too. It's just not as "glamorous" as anorexia or other EDs that don't make you fat. (I'm not really saying that they're glamorous - I was being sarcastic; I understand that all EDs are very serious.) But anyway, going vegan helped my COD somewhat. Starting an exercise program helped even more. Going whole (e

I apologize in advance for my neophyte-ness. When someone says they are 90% raw, what does the 90% refer to? 90% of their total calories comes from raw food? Or raw foods constitute 90% of the total volume of what's consumed? Other? I've seen this expression multiple times, even before I ever considered going raw myself, but I just now realized that I don't really know what it means. I'm no

Can someone give me an approximation of how much vitamin E would be in 8 fl. oz. of almond milk made by blending 1 cup soaked almonds with 3 cups water, then straining out the solid matter? Thanks.

Hi, Just joined. I have been trying raw foods lately and would like to do more, especially with desserts and crackers. If I just want to try them to make sure I like them, would a cheapie dehydrator suffice? If my foods turn out nicely, I will invest in a proper dehydrator, but I don't want to lay out $100+ for an experiment that may fail. But would I get decent results with the $20 model from
