Hey! Why do I get vilified for what I say, yet no one even reads enough of what I say to at least give me credit for being the first to i.d Arcimboldo as the artist? Check out the last line of my first post. That seems a bit unfair! Sheesh! You're exposed! I don't even get credit for saying that raw foodists are diverse, intelligent, open-minded...I guess it's pick on Devric day, the guy that no

We must have read 2 totally different articles and have 2 completely different ideas of what it means to be a professional, objective journalist. Could he have at least interviewed a successful raw foodist and quoted them? You know what I mean? Give the raw foods community a voice? And what about his incessant and misguided whining about how difficult he's decided it is after 3 whole days on the

I find that article to be ridiculous. He says nothing of value or depth. He also makes it clear that he did not research the subject before taking on the experiment. And oh boy, the experiment lasted a whole three days. What an authority. And what about his "cult" reference? Most people don't see that word in a positive light. And the ribs and mac and cheese that he's going to eat after

When I was in college I lacked self-confidence, partly because I had some fairly bad acne and came from a superficial world where physical perfection is ridiculously overstated. But then I had a class with another student who changed everything for me. This guy literally had the worst acne I had ever seen in my life, the kind that makes people dread showing their face, but he walked around like h

Lies are often the creation of senseless "morality." The more free an atmosphere, the more honest it's capable of being. I have no problem with "lying" to someone who will act irrationally, and perhaps even harm me, if I tell them the truth.

Since I've settled into a raw diet, I can't stop dancing. Seriously, the funk won't leave me alone and I don't care who knows it. It's also been very important for my well-being to drop out of the mainstream work world. My raw energy has given me the ability to happily deflate my ego, find independent sustenance, and enjoy living with less. I think this is a great thread. As I contemplate where m

I'm definitely in full agreement with the yoga suggestion. I can't imagine life, let alone winter, without it. It gives me a very clam yet effective circulatory boost. After a year of being raw, I'm finding that my diet and daily yoga are keeping me warmer than ever.

I highly recommend the green smoothie experience. I'll put about 2 cups of safe water into a standard size blender. Otherwise, I use whatever greens (not iceberg!) I have and combine them with some fruit (about 30-70 to 50-50 green to fruit ratio) and some hemp powder if I'm looking for something a bit more filling. I have no problem with combining foods, but if you do you might want to try your

I've made many raw smoothies with kale and fruit and have had no problems. But that's me. My body appears to have assimilated the raw diet to a point where any combination of raw produce is okay. Someone posted the food combining link below on another thread. Good luck.

I highly recommend the elimination of all grains from your diet. When I started to transition, gluten carrying grains were the first thing I did away with. The positive results came fast. I had grown up consuming huge amounts of pasta, bread, beer, etc., but relative to the benefits, I didn't miss it one bit. I ate steamed potatoes and steamed basmati to help transition away from all grains. They

When I quit smoking, nothing worked for me other than accepting that I had done something incredibly foolish and that to undo it I was going to have to pay the consequences. Quit smoking aids are pretty dubious if you ask me. Your addiction is between you and the cigarettes, so the best way to quit is to keep it between you and the cigarettes. No conduits are necessary. The best quit smoking aid

I've always wondered that. How do we define crazy or insane? Is a person who gets sick while living in this culture crazy, or is their sickness a sane, normal response to an upside down world? Which then makes me remember that old cliche about the victors getting to write history, which is very true. I believe that the victors also get to say who's crazy and who isn't. This would make me, accordi

HSP = Highly intelligent, honest, kind, and sane grown-up doing time in an upside down, chaotic world dominated by stunted mental growth and the thuggish culture of consumer greed. If HSPs had the world in their hands, it would undoubtedly be a much better place. One of modern America's greatest tragedies is that HSPs are considered "weird" or "different" and in need of coun

That's very generous of you. Maybe you can pray for my hometown? I live in Youngstown, Ohio. It used to be a normal, thriving city until the steel industry pulled out 30 years ago, leaving 40,000 people jobless. Since then we've struggled as a veritable third world region in the heart of America while watching our population drop from 170,000 to 70,000. Only 20% of our adult inhabitants have jobs

Since going raw, I definitely feel like I'm more spirit and less body. I can also say that in the first month or so of going raw I went through a period where I felt an intense connection to the earth. I always knew it was in me, but it never really surfaced until I cleansed my body. I felt a bit freaked out by these experiences at first, but now that I've assimilated them, I'm free to kick back

I don't know what her educational package is, but I do know that her book "Green for Life" exposed me to green smoothies, an essential part of my raw diet. I also found the book to be scientifically interesting, especially since she's not an academic. I found some of her claims to be far flung (who knows?) and I'm suspicious of her pushing the use of a certain type of blender, but it do

I've been there. Here are some things that helped me control the problem: 1) Maintain a healthy diet. 2) Exercise daily and get a lot of fresh air. 3) Get plenty of sleep. 4) Minimize stress. 5) Don't irritate the acne by touching, etc. 6) Learn as much about good health as you can. 7) Be consistent in your healthful practices and never give them up. 8) Be patient in seeing results

Maybe you're gluten and/or lactose intolerant. Besides outwardly being the picture of health, I had horrible stomach problems for about ten years before going raw. After I went raw it all disappeared. But I couldn't leave well enough alone, so I started testing myself on some of the junk food I used to eat with the hope of isolating the culprit that had tormented me for so many years. I was so-so

I love green smoothies. Check out Victoria Boutenko's green smoothie book titled "Green for Life." From my experience, the quest for "instant knowledge" and possessing "no patience with the learning curve" in nutrition/raw foods/healing, etc. is none too wise. Be patient, study, experiment, and give your body and mind the time to figure out what's best for you. Stay

I've been raw for a month and a half now. I love this diet because I feel great and after years of trying everything, it's the only approach that has apparently taken care of ten years of chronic stomach problems. However, in the last two days a couple of issues have come up and I'm looking for advice. I started off my raw adventure with low body fat and avoided the scale until a few days ago

Thanks for the recommendations. I just read an article by Cousens where he suggests that we take B-12 supplements. Do you take supplements? Who makes them?
