Enchantress and Ela, do you know why you went down the ED route? Was it image, magazines, personal life, control...? Please don't answer if it is too personal.

I love raw baby corn! I was eating it before being raw because I get vegetable packs from the supermarket and I don't know how to cook so I just ate it! Lol!

Interesting. It doesn't surprise me as watercress has a very strong taste and that often goes hand in hand with medicinal properties. Yum!

I don't think diet is everything but it (along with excercise) is A LOT. The only other thing is peace of mind and that is probably the hardest thing to achieve. Peace of mind can come with all sorts of things -hell it can even come with wealth. Which is why the rich live forever and age better. Diet and excercise, however, are the things you can do most about, easily. As for medicine, I th

Oh fun!! You'll survive on fruit and nuts easily. I don't know Holland but I know Belgium and France and yes they eat lots of bread and dairy but you don't have to do the same.

Oh and another tip -stay away from Alissa Cohen's food forum. They will make you feel crap about any decisions you make that are against their beloved way of life.

I don't like fruit either, but then I had (till recently) a sugar problem. The sweetness of fruit never ever will come close to fake refined sugar in chocolate. If this sounds like you, my advice is to cold turkey the sugar, and never go back. You body and life will be better for it. Fruit becomes acceptable in the end and you can make stuff like raw cheesecakes that will easily crush sugar c

I've never had an ED thank goodness but I can get obsessive about food and weight. Raw helps me because it allows me to eat greater quantities than on a regular diet. Also if it is an appearance thing, I have seen too many women with illnesses to ever be fooled into thinking that it is an attractive look. I just keep thinking, if I get to the point where I am ill and my periods stop, then I wi

Are you meant to be getting your period whilst you are fasting? I mean I did but I was only a few days into my fast. Did you get your period quite long into a fast?

Same! Everyone thinks I have thick hair because it is coarse but my hairdresser and I know better. If I lose even a bit, it starts showing on my scalp. Not a good look premature baldness I tell you!

Thanks Bryan as usual! I hate salt anyway but you have pointed out a few products that I didn't know were problematic. When I was SUKD, I didn't understand why they would put salt in sweet things like cakes and biscuits. I could taste the sourness and couldn't believe nobody else could. Apparently there is quite a capitalistic reason behind it. For example McVities cookies have the same salt

Thanks Troy that was very helpful. I am not sure if the water will be contaminated but I'll have to do some research. I hear we'll be coming across some sources in the mountains so that is preferable to anything that comes out of a tap. Baking soda -check. I'll assume I can get seeds in Kathmandu. Apparently there are monkeys everywhere in the city! How cute is that? Also the weed thing is a

I don't believe in it. Your body is made for survival -it can get calories out of pretty much anything short of cardboard.

Some heathfood shops have like Amazon gum... I haven't read the ingredients so I can't tell you if gum like that is better but shop around -there are ALWAYS alternatives.

I personally believe in detox but agree there is a problem with the 'binge/purge' culture and so detox shouldn't be advertised to all and sundry. As for detox coming out negative, I think it is because the toxicity won't rapidly change in that week, but the body's ability to cleanse those toxins will improve and that will be a more gradual process. But the BBC's ultimate advice that it is

^Why don't you do a carrot gnawing 'fast'?! Lol. But yes, fasting makes you humble about food which is a necessary thing to be. It is not something to take for granted. My hair falls too on a water fast. It is terrifying.

No I will take a fruit peeler -I was joking about travel restrictions! Thailand and Cambodia aren't as high or as isolated as Nepal and India is a superpower and you can get pretty much what you want -that was my concern. BUt the dried fruit thing is an excellent idea. And just to make everyone else feel at ease -I am not anorexic but I have ALWAYS been underweight naturally. I now just wa

Oh one more question about the Cuisinart and the Greenstar -do you have to mess around with the nuts -i.e. move them about every two minutes or add water or just fiddle? or is it in there and BAM nut powder?

It is just so eerie with the dying before 40 (like Marilyn and Diana) and the overdose... and just her whole life. I hope the baby's father is a stable person I really do.

Thanks guys -I'll investigate those (though I fear the greenstar may be out of range... I may go for it someday but I am not sure how comitted I am. I mean I have a juicer and I no longer believe in juice so that was a waste). I am very proud of my cheesecake you see as it is the only thing I can 'cook' (cooked or otherwise)! Plus my dad hasn't eaten any sugar or honey for the past 40 years (he

Veggie is fine but I don't want to eat rice or bread or anything. It is going to be weird not having my every gourmet whim delivered as it is in London. And yes the term isn't ideal I agree and there is a sense of heirarchy in it. So perhaps we should replace it with 'developing'.... ok that doesn't work either. How bout 'rapee nation' as opposed to 'raping nation'! Lol. Any suggestions?

Thanks argula. Maybe literature will help because forums tend to be very chaotic and I can't make head or tale of who is mad or not. My raw foodism has developed PURELY because of forum advice and perhaps that is my mistake.

Taylor 3 days is the standard length I do for a water fast. I find it pretty easy.... BUT the longest I have ever managed is 4 days so I think the tail off for a water fast for each person is pretty much a narrow period of time. Seems you and I can make it to the same level. On the other hand, to maximise water fasting, I am just about to do it properly. This is what I am doing 3 days

Do any of these do nuts? I need something for cheesecake but an expensive one is scary and a cheap one is scary.... I need a specific recommendation. I need to do vast quantities of nuts for raw cheesecakes for the family.
